It actually all ended up being a clerical error at their end (yes, I was behind on payments but only 3 mons not the 5 mons they said) which lead to the "panic"Blue skies all around, I guess. Glad they let you pay in installments anyhow.
*shakes head* Don't they have accounting software to track this stuff? Though even that isn't proof to someone keying things in incorrectly or something. It actually all ended up being a clerical error at their end (yes, I was behind on payments but only 3 mons not the 5 mons they said) which lead to the "panic"
Yes they do and that was the problem. They entered my Feb payment as March and my March payment as April and the software saw I hadn't paid Feb so flagged my account as not having had anything paid since Feb - even though I had those two payments. So because of that, I was too far in arrears and they still wanted me to pay the full amount for the 5 months before today even though I only owed for 3 months. Anyway, I have paid half and have promised I will somehow pay the remaining half by the end of August.*shakes head* Don't they have accounting software to track this stuff? So they didn't apply the payments correctly it sounds like. *shakes head again* This is why you need good people handling accounts payable. Our senior AP clerk at work has been with the company almost as long as me. Mistakes like this are rare to non-existent.Yes they do and that was the problem. Oh, my head has been shaking lots. And my contact in AP is the same person it's always been - that said, I don't know who is working under/with her and if they are new or not. I'm just glad the situation has been resolved enough that I can continue the paper. So they didn't apply the payments correctly it sounds like. *shakes head again* This is why you need good people handling accounts payable. Tough on them, eh. I shake my head at them more than anyone.Authorities do not like head shaking unless on the upright axes ... too suggestive that they cannot be perfect!
Me too! Glad your situation was resolved @KayTheCurler. My worst banking snafu happened back when the gal at the main branch office pulled money from the wrong account to put in the GIC I had opened - account she pulled it from only had the bare minimum to keep the account active and she should have seen that she had the wrong account (besides she should have looked at the form I signed and the account indicated on it!). I got charged ridiculous fees and they refused to correct the situation as it was "my" error not theirs, even though we had a pretty darn good paper trail (thank goodness it wasn't all on the computer) proving without a shadow of a doubt it was their error. After they finally, with extreme reluctance, admitted it wasn't me that made the mistake, they said it was my local bank gal who did and they were going to fire her over it. I pitched an even bigger fit than I had to that point - and again, we had irrefutable paper trail proof it wasn't her either - and after WEEKS they finally corrected the situation, everyone kept their job, but I didn't get the promotion deal on interest because the GIC wasn't done at the right time. If the bank wasn't the only one in town, and a convenient 3 blocks from my home, I'd have taken my money out...I still wanted to smack the branch gal in the face who made the error and I refused to deal with her so my investments went to another bank in another town and I only do my daily type banking here.Tough on them, eh. I shake my head at them more than anyone.![]()
