No smoke issues in Ontario so far this year. Last year was due to fires in Quebec so maybe things have been better there and in Northern Ontario. I know Labrador City was evacuated but that's far enough that smoke from those fires probably wouldn't affect us.

The humidex is close to 40C here. We have TWO Alerts - one for heat and one for smoke. I was surprised to realise that I felt like I had Cabin Fever. I haven't been outside in days.

Our heat warning has been lifted. It is much cooler and we've had some rain.

Almost 3 weeks of heat warning temps, humidity and, now the wildfire smoke. We need rain!

I was given a link for a grant to help with printing the paper - most grants I've seen in the past I haven't qualified for as not a weekly (or daily) and I don't have 75% of my readership as paid subscriptions - I have a meeting with sis's former boss in an hour to go over it and see if I do fit and get some assistance filling out the application. Fingers crossed

printing alone is $400 per issue then there are the other expenses that go along with that (delivery, gas for me to deliver them, postage for subscriptions, etc). I have had a request for donations in each issue of the paper for a year, and a bigger plea this week on FB - which will also go in the next paper.

Generally speaking, the ads do cover the cost but payments have been hit and miss coming in on time this past year.

I was shocked to learn that the fire had hit the townsite yesterday. Such a loss.
