I accidentally clicked on the wrong thing as I finished up yesterday's pattern and it created such a funk silhouette effect that I decided to keep it (and I might have to see if I can recreate it on some of my earlier patterns too?)

Tragic evening here...around 9 PM there was a lot of smoke coming into the house so I got out of bed and saw a fire truck drive by my house...neighbour's house two doors north of me (he mowed my lawn the first year after mom died) was completely engulfed in flames and no one knew where he was...I found out from another neighbour that the fire had actually started around 8 PM so it's strange that none of us right around his place noticed sooner...around 10:30 PM a friend of his confirmed that my neighbour was home and in the house :( So very, very sad...it's now just after 11 PM and the poor fire crews are still battling the fire and the smoke is still VERY thick and we have a nasty wind and -40+ windchills.
 
I was up till 1 AM as too smoky, noisy and too many flashing lights to sleep...We're still under extreme cold warning...the neighbour across the street said the remains were removed shortly after 8 AM :( The fire crews JUST all left the scene (8:30 AM)...a VERY cold, VERY long night for them all.
 
Sad to hear about that fire. What a time for it to happen. Could it have been caused by an errant wood stove or fireplace or something like that, I wonder? Hmm.

We are looking at a weird couple days. Positive single digits with rain tomorrow, then temp dropping and snow on Friday, then cold with flurries over the weekend.

could have been or a cigarette - unfortunately, he was a smoker who drank till he passed out on his couch :( But still a tragic way to go.

We're still in extreme cold but it's supposed to be plus temps on the weekend
