My dad knit in school. Everyone did. They made bandages for the Red Cross in the war.

Some teachers here teach their class to knit. I recall one boy knitting with camouflage wool.

and just for the record there are men quilters.

When my sister and I were in Girl Guides it was our dad who taught us to knit for a service project we were doing...unfortunately, he did all the casting on for us and I never thought to ask him how, and then I got into spool-knitting instead...I recently found a nice simple knitting DVD through the library so I can learn as I've always been interested but didn't think I had the time.
