Now I'm in a mall - so mundane.

Malls are boring but I prefer them to power centres. At least you can stay indoors and don't need to drive to get from store to another as in large power centres. I saw the mall from Hell in Panama. Our first night hotel was connected to a massive shopping centre. Four story, sprawling monster. And, strangely, most of the stores were familiar, too. It was the usual North American mall stores plus some of the big fashion houses (Gucci, Armani type stuff) who, I imagine, you would find in upscale malls here like Ottawa's Rideau Centre.

We go past this area on our way to the clinic. That's quite a distance. It does look like a cool area.
It sure was. It was an adventure and a half today (yesterday). I don't know all the parts of this town really well - especially when I'm zigzagging through the side streets. I just know if I keep going, eventually I'll get to a main intersection, and recognize something (or reach the water and see where I am, and just follow the shore to town). And, if not, I can get on a bus and, most likely, it will stop either downtown or at the university, at some point. I know my way home from either of those places.

I didn't have anywhere I had to be today, so getting lost was fun. I figure, from experience (I used to love going on day trips and getting lost in Vancouver, and in Calgary), you never really have to worry about getting lost in any city that has even a half decent transit system, anyway. You can always hop back on the same bus you got off of and you'll be okay (I've found).

By the time I got to that cafe, I needed to find an electrical outlet. I was worried my scooter battery wouldn't last.

I got to know Kitchener much better by doing much the same thing on my bike back in the day. Hit a trail, get off on a street, follow the street to see where it went, and so on.

After our meeting with the lawyer yesterday to sign the forms for probate - they had to redo forms as they spelt my name wrong (!) - sis and I discussed the house and vehicles - I get the house (will have to eventually buy out her half) so have a roof over my head...sis gets the Escape and I get the truck...now, fingers crossed the probate goes through fast.

Not sure how things work in Alberta but it went fairly quickly here once we got all the i's dotted and t's crossed (and Dad's lawyer did most of that). That said, it was a fairly simple estate. A half share in the family cottage (his sister owns the other half) and various investments and savings accounts.

Yes, mom's is simple too - house, 2 vehicles and savings - lawyer is waiving part of her fees for us as it is simple :)
