We aren't exactly rich and we can still find money to contract it out. Buying a blower is really less expensive than that in the long haul. However, if you've got some able-bodied folks and a few shovels, go for it.
 
Windchill is -40C today. I'm staying inside...and hoping that a neighbour will nicely shovel my walks.

Yikes. We're dropping this week (finally getting some real winter) but even then we're only headed down to -11C or so.

we sometimes pay to have our parking Lot plowed out. most of our shoveling is thAt of Sidewalks and sTairs.

Ended up shovelling the snow myself - only did half the job though as it is bitterly cold.

Still need to put things back that were moved during the window renos and I discovered I need to rearrange my office space - not sure where to even start with that project.
 
LAST with the snow-clearing stories: Our congregation have a man with a truck, as we have a rather large lot. We budget $3000 each year for his services, but he never bills us.

At my house, it is supposed to be my boarder's job in exchange for reduced rent. However, he generally does a poor job of it, and I often have to fix it myself, or pay someone else to do so.
