I'm preparing for a family camping trip. Organising it defeated me - so akin to herding cats! Settled for packing plenty of storable basics, a filled fridge and freezer (about the equivalent of four shoe boxes - the whole thing, not the freezer) and a determination to not stress. As we run out of food someone will have to take an hour long drive to the store. We have our wee camper, our kids are supposed to be adults- it is up to them to remember to bring a tent and sleeping bag etc! None of them seem to know 'for sure' when they will arrive or how long they will stay.
I am 'online friends' with a couple who spend ten months of each year travelling in their 15' trailer. They retired early and seem to have sufficient access to cash. They have been all over the US and parts of Canada - they haven't done Alberta, Sask, Manitoba or Quebec yet. There would be a lot more space in a fifth wheel.
