Both have their place, I think. What you want to avoid is doing both at the same time.

I recall being given a knitted swimsuit when I was about six or so. Initially I disliked it - the colour was ghastly in my opinion. My dislike intensified when I came out of the ocean and my swimsuit slowly but with determination, stretched downwards until I was basically naked and couldn't walk for the fabric around my knees. This was the LAST time I wore that, or any, knitted swimwear. Hope you have better luck with your crochet one.
