It was already 2C when I left home so no more snow for now and might lose some. Which would be nice. Our piles aren't quite ridiculous yet, but getting there.
Above freezing here as well. Rain coming Thursday night, dammit. At least it changes back into snow on Friday, just in time for the drive, which is fine by me.

The week after Christmas is mostly below freezing with some snow coming. We'll recover from the rain, make more snow and be in good shape for Christmas week and the early season.

Last I knew, we had turned 30 million gallons of water into snow, which is ludicrous.

It'll all flow down the river in the spring. We're not stealing water - we're just borrowing it.

Just conceptually, because it's difficult to imaging 30m gallons....4 litres to a gallon (approx) is 120m litres. An Olympic sized swimming pool contains 2.5m litres. so we pumped 48 Olympic sized swimming pools worth of water to make snow.

See? Not so bad.

I headed out and made it to Bashaw okay (15 mins drive)...after an hour in town delivering papers, the conditions had deteriorated so much I decided to just go back home and not deliver any more papers today...very nasty drive back to Mirror...glad I decided to return home as the storm has gotten much, much, MUCH worse and I can't see across the street at all now.

Things are really picking up here too. The predictions don't sound as bad as yours though. Good decision making. on your part.

Papers are all delivered...almost got stuck in a couple of parking lots as not ploughed out...and almost got stuck a block from home as our streets aren't ploughed either.

My son, who lives in town popped in for coffee. He described helping a young man who got his car stuck in the back alley. He was using summer tyres and kept the emergency brake on! Son found it strange.
Some people just don't get driving in Canada. And some just don't get driving period. Some (censored) in a small SUV was dancing around the lanes when I was driving to work this morning. Signalled left, started left, cut back right. Signalled left again, then turned off his signal but changed lanes anyhow. Changed lanes back without signalling at all. It was behind me so wasn't that big a bother for me but the poor folks behind him must have been livid.

Yet there is a force that declares that humanity is intelligent! I'll debate that ultimately as the expression declares evil is among us ... face it!

Always astounds me the number of folks who have lived and driven through more Canadian (Albertan) winters than I have who still seem to have no concept of how to drive in "winter driving conditions."

I dislike being near one of the people who try driving at the speed limit regardless of the weather and/or road conditions.

I've had people pass me in almost zero visibility conditions - you know the only thing they could see ahead of them was my taillights.
