1:2 lilac petals (make sure you separate them from all the green) to water
boil water then add petals
remove from heat, cover and steep minimum of 8 hrs (longer = stronger/darker).
strain petals off (fine mesh)
boil liquid with sugar (I used honey this time - 1 cup for every 4 cups of liquid or to taste, some like it sweeter) and add some lemon juice
more you boil it down the thicker it will be but it's supposed to be a "light" syrup so runnier rather than thicker
put in jars - mine are sealed but I still keep in the fridge (just in case) and refrigerate after opening

** For the lilac juice, stop after the petals are strained off and add a splash of lemon juice and refrigerate

More verde goes ... en via 'r OS? Travelling flower! Ephemeral ... whatever that means ... is there a flicker of red in Ur aye? Perhaps a beef ...

35 mins planting yesterday and 45 mins today and I still don't have my garden totally planted - and it's not that big!

Thanks for the recipe @BethAnne . It sounds interesting and I'm even more tempted to try it. Is the dandelion version made the same way?

Yes, you have to be even more careful with the dandelions to only get the yellow petals and no green. Some people cut them off, I personally find it easier to grasp petals and bottom and twist them apart.

I've also done the same thing with caragana blossoms (again, important to get the green off of the petals)

I wonder if I can tempt any of my younger generations to assist.......................................
Good luck! I wasn't able to tempt niece and she's usually gung-ho for weird things like that. Couldn't even get her to help plant the garden - she said she prefers to harvest not plant.
