LAST as the task of undecorating is almost done. I actually enjoy this activity every year. I give it a few days and take my time.
 
Since the only Christmas decoration I put out was my creche, and my Xmas cards, they will stay a while. The gifts have moved into usefulness. Took Lucy for a walk this afternoon kitted out in my sister's rainbow cloche and beautiful red hand-knit mitts from Seeler!
 
My creche is a valued treasure in my life. Bought in my early years of marriage, the only thing I bought with my annual "Uncle JB gift" that year, it's a real barn board stable with wax figures. Above it balances a sparkly baked playdough star crafted by my daughter; to one side is a pinecone christmas tree in a tiny clay pot topped by a tiny wooden star painted yellow, my son's permanent contribution to the scene. The rest of it - tree, lights, etc., I can apparently live without. At least this year.

Sounds precious...mine was made by my uncle and had rough wooden figures - it is technically out since I didn't get it put away after LAST Christmas but not in the living room displayed.
 
I feel like an animal in the creche ... crushed! Tis a musing event to those mystified by destructive sol ... countering creativity as still going on ... or lastly we wouldn't be here ... tis the was its ben ...

(Anyone else notice how the first four days are all for the birds, then suddenly we're into serious bling? ;) )
