I think it’s possubke to not watch something because if reviews. I didn’t watch the Mel Gibson movie about Christ

But I then would not comment in the movie which I haven’t seen

Troll alert

I finally did watch the Gibson movie, and found it very distressing. To the point of nausea, and the old guy shouting from another room, "you might be okay now!"...

We can all, as a community, just ignore this stupid behaviour by Jae. It might be wisest. It's clearly a big signpost of mental illness when a community has to say, periodically, "let's just turn down this person until they get 'normal-ish' again"... And I'm not just pointing fingers here. I recognize that I occasionally get almost 'visibly' angry. There are a couple of people who privately share this with me, and I can respect that.

Never watched the Mel Gibson movie . . . after reading reviews and talking with folks who saw it, I decided to skip it.

Agreed that some behaviour (here and elsewhere) is best ignored.

It's fascinating that a thread about Jesus Christ Superstar has basically become a thread about Jae.

Strange how that happens over and over again.

Some of us may be clinging to the hope that he will actually learn something if we respond to him with kindly, patient intelligence or something. It has been pretty pointless so far.

Phew - just finished watching JCS - pretty intense experience. I loved it for all the reasons Mendalla (and others) mentioned above. The band was amazing too - let's not forget the musicians, seen and unseen. Voices and dancers - so inspiring. The staging & costumes were interesting to me - I'm always intrigued by these things & who conceives of them, how they are executed and how they add so very much to the experience. I found the extent of personal struggle, questioning and doubt portrayed by both Judas and Jesus to be fascinating - and so human. And I thought the media scrum after Jesus arrest was an interesting nod to current times.

But I was glad to have recorded it - there definitely were a lot of ads!!

Agreed Northwind - it would be so great to see it straight through. I suppose even the studio audience had to endure breaks in the performance too so the ads could air during the live performance.

@Mendalla I really liked both Mary (Sara Bareilles) & Caiaphas (Norm Lewis).
I also liked Simon -- interesting, had to google him.
Peter was reasonable for part.

I am torn on Judas. I know that some really liked him, and his acting was strong, but, his voice....wasn't sure.
I also thought that Legend was not as powerful as I would have hoped.

Yet, I also know that they did a great job. I will likely watch again, and again.

Autocorrect strikes again..... I mean reviews.

Ah ... that explains it .. I ignore the reviews if a title catches my imagination. Wrinkle in Time got bad reviews ... but I don't think the critics got he icons and avatars hidden in the presentation of myth! This went right down to the wiggle in in the Dark Lasses brows? Love does have its wrinkles ... such as people that cannot bind it with Sophists ... wise moderation?

Jae would take moderation as extreme ... and he trolls as heh wiles ... and I do in the other vector ...

A fundamentalist relative told me when the movie was first released that they couldn't believe the violence and brutality ... did they ever do anything but skim through the biblical book on extreme passions? Knowledge was eliminated ... or attempted at ... a rae few were astute ... or sentient (derived from ancient sapiens, flows under the bark of the revered tree)!

Totem? When toting eM ... grin and bare it ...
