Is "Jack & Jill" outdated?

Swing dances will have competitions where leads and follows are randomly paired together. These have been referred to as Jack and Jill competitions. Some other dance communities also use the term.

As leads aren't always male and followers aren't always female - should the contest be renamed? If so, what would you call it?

I knew a couple of Jacquelines who went by "Jackie", and sometimes "Jack", to their friends - so, no, not necessarily. And there's the name "Gilles", generally given to boys, pronounced "jeel" (or zjeel -not sure how to write that in English), and lazily pronounced "Jill". It could be changed if those who participate want it to, though. I don't see why not. It wouldn't change the dancing competition, just the name.

Does this augur well for logos and logic of a god that can learn? Attributes of wisdom as sophisticated for the Magus person ... some say Magi, others Magus ... expressions of intangible thoughts ...

Can't believe that square dancing is so behind in this area. Typically it is at the forefront of societal change.

My middle child is gender neutral. She is into swing dancing. At their club they call it following and leading. And so the contest could be called "Partner swap competition" "Round Robin Partner competition" or some other descriptive name.

We don't have those here. I am familiar with Winnipeg's socials, but they didn't have a name like Buck & Doe.

Enjoying some of the joking comments here. The swing dancing community has actually taken this quite seriously though, to feel more inclusive to all. Not just here, internationally.

9 different events where these competitions are held are mentioned as changing the name for these competitions.

Locally (not a big enough of an event to be mentioned on the link I posted) the next event the competition will be "Mix & Match".

I find it amusing that you're asking if something is outdated when it comes to the activity of swing dancing.
