How do we know what is true?

Science - learning how the world around us works.
Faith - enhances our learning of how to live (with ourselves and others) in the world we are learning about.

Yep, that's why the most faithful countries are the most peaceful countries.

If "faith" is a unitive feeling, the emotion of unitive love and a trust in the unified dimension that we feel, then this feeling will inevitably lead to inner and outer peace - with or without religion.

"Superunity?" isn't that the theory of the universe as a unified whole? The "unitive feeling," then, would be to actually feel the universe as a unified whole: the intuitive or experiential confirmation of the theory of Superunity. This is what "faith" or "spirituality" is to me, and acting from the depth of the unitive feeling is spiritual action.

They aren't because, to them, faith is not the unitive feeling, and trusting the feeling, but the blind belief in some more or less idiotic doctrines.

Hi blackbelt:

"What is truth?" Pontius Pilate asked Jesus. Not "what is true?" but "what is truth?"

Of course, once we have defined what truth is, we may be able to tell what is true.

Jesus answer appears to have been: "I am the truth."

Socrates answered the existential question with: "Only the ignorant dare to answer."

My personal answer? Actually, I tend to agree with Jesus - if his statement is taken to mean that truth is in being, pure being, just being. Pure being is absolutely true. Our conceptualization of being, on the other hand, is an arbitrary creation of our thinking mind, and no longer absolutely but relatively true: relative to our chosen viewpoint, our emotional state, our socialization, etc., etc.

So God's Truth is being, just being, pure being.

"I AM"

-God

So, if we want to immerse ourselves in God's Truth, maybe we should immerse ourselves in pure being, just being, as in meditation. Maybe then God will tell us his Truth - in inaudible words.

The TAO that can be told is not the TAO.

we see Jesus associating Himself with the Great I AM, I agree with you, Truth originates and is delegated from this pure potential I AM

I actually found it wonderful that Chasen being an atheist would ask such a question

"Idiotic" may be too strong a word, but I'd say "bizarre" or "absurd," which means much the same.

Of course, believers in these doctrines do not perceive them as stupid, bizarre or absurd, but the secular majority does. I might be good for believers in religious doctrines to bear this in mind.

Are all doctrines idiotic, though? Or just ones you disagree with? After all, your belief in the unitive consciousness would be a doctrine if it became the core belief of a church.

Which is complete bulls**t. If anyone declares themselves the truth by saying, "I am," run away. Don't walk, run.

I find it amazing that you'll accept crap answers to deep questions. The point of the video is that answers from the supernatural, including gods, typically don't work. Answers from the scientific method, while slow to arrive and not answering all of our questions, typically do work. The search for truth has no known shortcuts we can take by looking to scripture, or tea leaves, or horoscopes.

actually the video that i did watch is more so an argument to the existence of a supernatural world vs only the natural world, i would like to see the scientific method used to see if its True that God exists or dosnt exist . at 2:08 mim into the video he says

" when we want to know what is true and what is false there is no better method"

here he asserts that Anything that is not a scientific fact is false, which is a false statement in itself

Nope, he says, "There is no better method" (to determine what is true). Not that what is not scientific, is false. In your world, that's called "false witness". To me, you're just twisting words to make it seem like he said something he did not.

ok lets take this statement , "there is No better method to determine what is true"

so if something cannot be scientifically proven in your mind and the mind of the guy in the video , it follows that since it cant be proven it must be false????? because he makes a truth statement of what is true and it LOGICALLY follows that if he cant it must be false.

ok Great , prove to me by the scientific method that

1) Gods Existence is True or not
2) that there are other minds other than my own
3) aesthetics values exist or not
4) that the speed of light is constant between A & B
5) statements of value are existent or not
6) moral values are true or not

and lastly , Prove to me using the scientific method that science itself is True , THAT IT DOES NOT HOLD TO ASSUMPTIONS TO HOLD ONTO THERE THEORIES

what you cant? so much for that Guys false statement in the video

Nope. The rest of your post is built on this false premise, so it fails along with it.

the guys statement would have been true if he said "there is No better method to determine what CAN BE true"

but since he made a truth statement that he can not prove scientifically his statement is completely false because There are no experiments you could conduct to prove it, he gave a philosophical statement about the nature of facts, he states that anything that is not a scientific fact is false, that makes his unproven statement according to him, FALSE

so prove your clam that my premise is false

im waiting

Yes, Mendalla, all doctrines are idiotic, even mine - if it ever became a doctrine, which I try to prevent. That's why I call it an idiocy, so that it will never become a doctrine.

My spiritual speculations are are just that: speculations. I do, however, urge everyone to delve deeply into the pure experience of reality, and create their own speculations.

You don't have to prove that something is true, you just have to be open to it when it becomes revealed through our searching for it.
