Wondering what word you'd use instead, @PG-13? Intersectionality covers some of the permutations of inequality faced by different groups of people?

What would your life have looked like if you'd been born the youngest, gay, child of a single parent of First Nations heritage in Toronto? Would your life maybe look different than it does today?

What would your life have looked like if you'd been born the youngest, gay, child of a single parent of First Nations heritage in Toronto... and your father was Ken Hill who may well be the wealthiest Indigenous businessman in Canada.

According to court documents filed in a support case against him, Hill pays no income tax on his self-reported income of $5.3 million in 2013 because of Indian Act exemptions.

His ex-lover and mother of his son is now receiving child support of $33,000 a month from Hill but fighting for more.

Then the racists say: “Well look at Hill’s son, he’s got lots of money and he still wants more. Who are “they” trying to kid? Nobody ever gave me $33,000 a month.”

Do you really think Ken Hill’s son represents the most common experience of indigenous people who fit Bette’s description? I know you know better. That’s not to say people from historically marginalized populations never have privilege that the colonial class has...in fact the more equality gained the more the colonial class tends to feel threatened and react and claim “reverse racism”. Moving toward equality, and once in awhile when someone from a marginalized group surpasses it ( eg. Obama -> birtherism) infuriates and distresses the once unflappable ruling class and looks like “reverse racism” to them - to white men - others are getting “their jobs”, “their money”, “their social status”. When they start experiencing some of the same hardships they feel entitled not to have because that’s engrained in their expectations...they blame things like “reverse discrimination”.

I am not well-versed in the fine details of intersectionality, but it seems to me that is often used as a crutch for radicalism and censure. I fully understand the idea that many types of intersecting identities can claim troubling oppressive existences ... but overall ... in the long history of civilization ... a human being of 'poor class identity' regardless of their perceived 'disability' 'race' 'gender' or 'sexual orientation' identiy wins the 'oppressed identity contest' (left/right/forward/reverse) hands down.

Sure but who typically and historically have gotten the short end of the short end on class identity, also, and continue to? You’re not going to tell me that Colonialism didn’t harm and the scars are not lasting to indigenous people, are you...that they were not oppressed and somehow they had a choice they didn’t exercise? Or that black people didn’t have a long and hard struggle to overcome slavery - did not have to fight for desegregation and are not now profiled, and harassed and denied due process, and the rights that come with citizenship, more than often than white people - are you? For f***s sake they were still being seated in different areas and had to use different doors in the south until the 60’s! Some of the racists who made sure of that are still around...and their kids and grandkids still think that way. The kkk still exists, neo nazis exist, white nationalist militias exist. You are not going to tell me that lgbt people have not fought long and hard for the right to live their lives without fear of abuse or fatal harm, are you? Or that people with disabilities were always treated like human beings not animals? They could all always just get jobs and get married and be married to someone of the same sex and/ or different race, and raise kids, could they...and achieve the same social acceptance just as easily? And lack of social acceptance has no part of class struggle, does it? There is still a lot of work to do on these prejudices, and fixing poverty is a large part but it won’t immediately fix systemic and attitudinal racism and prejudice. They both need to be worked on. And it is true that the more “differences” a person has from the white male norm, the more likely they will be poorer and more oppressed. That’s a fact. Despite exceptions that everyone could find a few examples of, it’s still a fact.

It’s not a crutch for radicalism (that just sounds like a poorly informed right wing talking point), it explains systemic marginalization.

A crutch for radicalism and censure. f*** that. Go away Dr. Peterson. You’re taking up too much real eastate in Rita’s head!

Whether or not President Barack Obama actually said I'm really good at killing people” while discussing drone strikes ...

The 'claim' is as indisputable as it is grim with his administrations' expansion of the drone war:

Some 326 drone strikes in Pakistan, 93 in Yemen, and several in Somalia, compared to a total of 52 under George Bush.

Two of those strikes killed 'American-born' Anwar al-Awlaki and his 'American-born' 16-year-old son.

Under Obama, U.S. drone operators began practicing “signature strikes,” targets are chosen based on patterns of suspicious behavior.

The 'identities' of those to be killed aren’t necessarily known - counting all “military-age males” in a strike zone as combatants.

“Double Tap" bombing the same place in quick succession often hitting first responders became common practice under Obama.

Needless to say, a lot of innocent people have been killed, along with combatants.

Obama also embraced the expansion of capture/kill missions by Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).

One JSOC operator told investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill that operations under Obama became “harder, faster, quicker.

Obama has gone down in history as the president who legitimized US right to conduct assassination operations around the world.

President Obama did prove to be “really good at killing people".

I don't think he proved himself worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize ... color me a reverse racist?

Obama might not have won the POTUS without the backing of 'the most influential woman in the world' - color me a reverse racist?

But I digress ... the bottom line is yours:
Even who are making $20/ hr are spending way too much of their net income on rent for a very basic, often substandard, accommodation. It’s only the wealthy who can afford something clean, safe, and reasonably updated - never mind posh.

No he did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. His military advisors certainly didn’t help him live up to that. They were all horrible in that regard He didn’t deserve the steady racist campaign against him that contributed to him losing congress and not even being able to get bills passed that his white republican colleagues supported in principle before him. Birtherism helped Republicans to justify, with public support from their base, stonewalling that prevented him from doing a lot of things, domestically, that he promised. It was evil. Don’t blame Obama for it all...unlike Trump he didn’t rule like a dictator, there were others making decisions too. And they were not necessarily ones he supported.

Ya, that’s racism and sexism. Sure someone can make it sound like it is a good thing. People can make intelligent sounding arguments for smoking too. But it is discrimination, no different than what it is supposedly against, except it includes a point system.

Discrimination is discrimination, and this just keeps it alive and well.

I'm not understanding the point you're trying to make here. Are you saying that if we don't name discrimination, that it doesn't exist? Or?

No, I’m not.
You don’t fight discrimination with a more sophisticated form of discrimination. That is equally evil.

The point and success of the end of discrimination is when it is no longer a thing. Not in developing a point system to justify who gets lifted up and who gets stepped on based on sexual orientation and skin colour.

I know that is almost impossible to comprehend, but it is racism and sexism that the left thinks is justified.
