Heaven and Hell

Well, here we go again. God is God.- a supreme being, God goes by many different names for many different
people and religions but God is God,

Jesus ,otoh, is a man who walked the earth for 30 some years. His mother was Mary and his father was Joseph.
His grandmother was Anna,( maybe) Mary's mother.
Jesus was a rabbi and teacher. The New Testament tell all the stories about this Jewish man. As a Christian, I try to walk
in the steps of Jesus .and try to follow his commandments" You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul and with all your mind." and" you shall love your neighbour as yourself."

Also "seek justice, love kindness ,and walk humbly with your God"

It does not seem to me that Jesus is talking about God as his father in these passages.
I pray to God but not to Jesus.
This is one of the biggest enigma that I have come across in my life.

I believe hell and heaven are physical places on this earth (accompanied by anguish or peace and joy) - shifting with time (as we perceive it). Syria looks about as close to hell as it gets, for example (the question to us is how did it get that way and how can we prevent it, help heal it, and not let it happen in other places and times ahead). Peaceful places in the tropics - heaven. Afterlife - I don't know. But I believe consciousness goes on eternally in some way. I don't believe in eternal punishment for a short life with lessons too obscure for our brains to fully understand.

If you had teenage kids who didn't want to come to your birthday party would you disown them and order that they be tortured for eternity? I don't believe in a God who works that way.

I dont make judgements on peoples eternal destines, weather we are christian or not , that Job is left up to Jesus Christ, all I know is that there is a separate place , Christ spoke about it

I like how you outsource your judgment.

By saying that you don't judge, that it's Jesus who judges, and you merely are interpreting the bible correctly on the topic, you get to conveniently claim that you aren't judging people. Jesus is your judgment contractor.

you do realize that there is a difference between judging spiritual matters and a persons eternal destiny right?, go re-read my post, its concerning peoples eternal destiny

matt 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

2 Corinthians 5 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

pretty simple

Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It's his place to judge.

Great, so you get to quote scripture and threaten people by proxy, instead of directly. You've outsourced your judgment and your disdain. You've hired an eternal hit man.

What you and Jae have is absolutely nothing worth communicating. As a personal belief, nobody cares. As something you say others are supposed to believe, you've given no good reasons, and more importantly, no believable ones.

And that's the beauty of living in Canada today - what you believe has no power any more. We're free to dismiss or ignore ridiculous ideas without personal repercussions. I can live quite happily with you telling me I'm going to be judged by your imaginary friend. Doesn't bother me in the least. That it could and does weigh on others makes it worthwhile for me to come to a public forum such as this and point out how utterly stupid these beliefs are.

I think it's a mistake to view God as a being as we would imagine Him to be. No one knows fully what God is but we do know one thing for sure.....Humans are NOT in control of the universe or this world for that matter. So whatever God is....it isnt us.

But here's the problem: There is this book. People like blackbelt and Jae get to quote it and sound like they *do* know what God is like and what God wants, because the bible spells out quite a few things. You may want it to show love for all, but it just doesn't. So you're stuck between what you want your God to stand for, and the quotes that blackbelt and others can pull from the bible at will.

At least you can both agree that atheism is, like, bad.
