Gen Z is Leading Church Attendance

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Our church demographic is largely "old and getting older". However, we do seem to have a significant demographic of 20-something year olds, due to a confluence of reasons - a local farmer has a lot of grandchildren who have started attending; we have a 28 year old team leader of Faith Formation & Christian Education, who shows edgy videos on Friday nights and is dating one of the aforementioned grandchildren; we are a block from the College and we regularly get students who hang around until they graduate and go home.

Our music isn't that pop praise music, but we have a good music director, guitar players, drummers - both hand drums and drum kit, a trumpeter and a very accomplished and diverse choir which is larger than most congregations our size. And we rely heavily on More Voices, and have started to use the new hymnal.

And chansen, I don't go to church with any sort of belief system (BS), except my own personal panentheisti/pantheistic view of the Divine. Doesn't include heaven, hell, the concept of a soul, a personal god, or Jesus outside of a possibly historical Jewish preacher who was crucified by the Roman Empire.

I go because I went to introduce my children to a place where they could find a BS to walk away from and find their own, which they both did. E is kinda a yogi/pagan, my son N is the custodian for a United Church. I stay because, inexplicably, they love me, and they are such kind people that it motivates my own behaviour and attitudes for the better.

Is a concept of heaven or hell an abstract item found in the mind, soul, psyche complex that realist declare cannot be real as it is beyond them?

Is that out there on the pharoh' side ... classic and old? a distant OH like a moan in the dark ... moan easing ... relaxation syndrome ... works for some synapses ... tough to unravel as very stringy, well attached and affiliated in body ... likely to upset the unrationalized emotions ... thus it rages ... as mental bonfire ... vanities? Still hubris ...

It's probably the only time they get to do something other than have the noses in phones. How else they going to meet the soul mate.

Is that a Zwilling doppelganger ... in essence? ÐU aus dem ... further chaos ... as close to royal and monarchist ... ruel!

Most Gen Zs are painfully aware of how messed up our society is, especially for people their age. In addition to meeting people, maybe some are attending churches that are working at changing society, giving them some hope.
I hope so....

One of our congregations seems to be setting itself up as Activity Suppliers and are attracting younger people. They bring in movies for kids , teems, young adults.. They run Clubs for various age groups - including one specifically for Singles.. They host free weiner roasts, hold Game Nights, organise Treasure Hunts etc. At least some of the attendees start going to worship services. A friend and I attended once and left halfway through. Neither of us could stand the noise level of the Praise Band on what was described as a stage - no altar. No choir. Different strokes for different folk I guess. .

It's nice to have a partner who likes to go to church with you. Church stuff doesn't have to be dull stuff. We don't do the same things - I organize the lay readers, run a study group, attend a bible study, contribute baking where requested, and do dishes at fundraising dinners. He is on the property team - repairing toilets and tiles, and because his Queen is a primary dishwasher, he is, necessarily, in charge of dishwasher chemicals and maintenance. And sometimes in the summer, he does the sound booth while I do the Powerpoint slides. Most Sundays we go to church together, and afterwards, we often go to brunch or invite church friends over to our house for same.

I know a lovely young couple, maybe 28 and 22, who totally involve themselves in the life of the church.

It is even claimed they are stressed out of their minds ... in complex ways that the unobservant cannot observe silently because of alien blindness.

Something weird is lacking ...

It was rumored that church and de Kirk were once for social activities until anti socialism descended! After that ... lack of communication ...

I think a lot more of them still do it the old-fashioned way than we give them credit for. My son's wife was a classmate. He was recommended to her as a math tutor (math is one of his strong areas). More than just calculus happened.

Is calculi a calcium based mortar ... part of the function of synapsis ... salt balance is prerequisite! Falls into neuro psychology!

Some dislike such etudes ... call it the pits ...

They are stressed out of their minds. What a world they’re inheriting. The future from right now, doesn’t look too bright. See “Bo Burnham: Welcome to the Internet”. But there are generations alive who’ve lived without the internet most if not all of their lives telling those who’ve lived with it all their lives that there’s something wrong with them - when the former brought it in expecting the digital age was going to happen but are now criticizing those who’ve embraced it through planned indoctrination. It’s not their fault. And so they seem to be very critical of each other.

These people aren't going to your United or similar churches. They're largely the red-hat-wearing, country-music-listening set. There is a Gen Z uptick for all three interests. I think it's more a conservatism wave hitting Gen Z in general, than it is a Christianity wave.

We'll see if the trends continue, or if they carry over to more liberal churches.
I posted similar before I read the whole thread.

Can a professed winner be saved further ... would that be the up-pens to deter from the auto pen?

Then what would a supreme court have to have lost to justify a person in power that is mad ... just work the word of law a bit and something will fall out! Once achieved ... one can observe from out there ... fireside? In the heat of the night ... they cloase up ... cloaking? ... Word creeps ... and flows over time ... a non-fixation! Anti-edifice when they note corruption among us ...

Imagine that as an abstract; dark and mysterious ... like if light is rendered down severely ... condensed levity? Unbelievable ... burn holes?

Things fell out of the law in Canada - human rights safety features - 11 years ago. Harper was still PM. Nobody noticed. It’s not just the US.

Consequence of the blind urges? Some declare this is a form of passions without the vernacular ... common words of communication ... forbidden and taboo ... thus such thoughts are flushed down the drain ... a tube? Commonality thus fails and we get conflicted right down to the detailed little bits ... and still don't know it as the entire body!

It is one step on a complex stairwell ...
