I thought I'd start a thread to see if there are any others out there who are attending Epiphany Explorations (EE) this year. This is my third time to attend and the first time I was there for opening day.

This evening, we had the pleasure of hearing Peter Rollins (Irish but now American) do Part 1 of his presentation and we also had the pleasure of picking up his recent book, which is not available in Canada anywhere else at this point. He's very engaging and offers challenging ideas with a great deal of humour. Some of you may enjoy checking him out on Youtube.

EE is being livestreamed so anyone who wants to can see the presentations from afar. The cost for individuals is a bit high but the group price might be manageable. I understand that some churches are showing it.

Feedback or thoughts?
 
Peter Rollins?! Cool. That's quite a leap of faith to have him presenting! His is one of the most progressive or unique Christian theological perspectives I've come across - he's out there, even from the rest of the Emerging/ Emergent movement. Sort of a punk rock star philosopher not quite theist (post-theist?) was my impression - simultaneously impressive and off putting but I couldn't place it. I posted about him a long time ago on WC - found him by accident while surfing the net - and I was intrigued and challenged by, and uncomfortable with him at the same time. I wish I was there today.

I went to EE a few years ago, and Marcus Borg was the feature speaker. I'm sad to hear of his passing.

EE slipped my mind this year, though. Maybe next year. Keep us posted! Thanks, Mof5!
 
I heard Peter twice on the Homebrewed Christianity podcast and he is an amazing speaker. One of those people who seems to throw out ideas at a mile a minute IIRC. Would love to see him live and meet him.
 
If an epiphany is a flash of insight ... what direction is "in" (if "in" is a negative conception, would this denote a'non innate process?)considering the strange flippancy of God of emotions? Then there are outside forces of thought that are differing from the attractive force?

However, could this be flip of the God of Wisdom and thus revealing the other side of the pageboy (that'd be a Yeoman in the past) ... preparing for future events that those stuck in presence of mind don't give aD amn about. Dineire quanta .. requiring dis entanglement as in Spain ... with enough Tango they'll rest! It's Dan's with a hue of combining sects ... then burnout and all that is left is the aches!

Why would G'd behave this way? To allow mortal freedom of wiles that will later be withdrawn as man learns B' ETa ... that be secondary or a lesser force at present! Just observe the overly emotional world we reside in ... tempor-Eire-a-Lee of course until we respect the gifts from above and beyond --- as per James 1:17 ... however this could have been a self-centered comment of one of the James Stewards (there were Nos. of M) they aimed to take over New Briton without knowing what they were getting into with the Norman-Saxon cross breed! These'd be brothers who'd arbitrarily fight over Roman versus Nordic trends ... and thus a lot of broken dishes as one of the brethren was ephemeral and flighty of temper. the shards of dishes eventually became Runes ... bits to remind you not to loose or Luce important portions of the mental organ in orgiastic explosion ... at haught gone wild?

I was once told Runes were evil ... sort of like reading into the authorities of the past!

Otherwise Kohl it down to a slow speed ... somehow ... the quick was then scroo-edge-dead ... by an purely strange force of Darkness ... Head Less Hoers Mon in de Veil ... drooling over a bun roast? Some call this sweet bred ... alas with powerful satyr? Such voids are like a soul ... a place to loose thoughts or Luce-M as Luce_ID? Then some stranger picks up de crumbs of the cookie ...

Many won't go that far in intelligent process as they've been directed that thought is evil ... too much like knowledge of what de Lars have dunne in raising pillars of dirt ... mire foolishness that befogs amon's soul due to womanizing?

Some of this is required to keep po' jack from becoming dull with work ... why the Hebrews vacated to an arid place in the wilderness to irrigate Goshen ... when you consider what she catches chi'z not that different than a gosh awk ... and the question is who dove for it ... divers points? In diversity so much is lost in translation if you don't know the mother tongue ... Ur who gives the man the lashings ... under the premise of give hymn enough cord and he'll hang himself ... thus the support mode of the ephemeral sole ... and the religion on sects, or purely about emotions! Thus heh vas hooked!

The intelligence on this may strike you alternately different ... or as arbitrary! God speaks to S/heh's portions independently ... as the children of God never did well in getting it all together ... Ecclesia? One should really gather a few entities to get a grip of all that's out there ... it is vast ...

Some say this is just a stretch of my abstract form ... that'd be the Shadow of Didi meis ... aDo uble duo ... or a 4-sum made from two physical forms and emotional come-between as a 3rd in making wee Deis Mons ? Like the four walls theme as a challenge to get over like Ray Hab ... a' bitch elation that is a pain and causes man to do differently ... given enough time as mankind tends towards density ... to much time screwing about with emotions lacking Q' Luce ... some say clues as with X-clues -ism!

Somebody told me last night that heaven and hell are just different sides of St Peter's Stoppage ... agate as a difficult stone? There's a lot of dust when you rub two hard stones together--- old Hassid axiom ...
 
I wish I could be there. One of these years I will plan ahead so I can go! There are two or three people from this area down there. By 'this area' I actually mean my congregation and 'sister' congregation. I suspect a couple from GP have also gone down. @GordW are you there?
 
Thanks MoF - will definitely be looking at some of this. It always sounds like they have such an amazing programme - are there a lot of people there? Various denominations or mainly UCCan?
 
Do you know if any local UUs (Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle all have UU churches) come? It strikes me as an event that I would attend were I closer and that would be of interest to other more theistically inclined UUs.
 
I don't know but the organizers probably do. If you contact them at First Metropolitan in Victoria you may be able to find out.

nope. and to be honest have never really felt the call to go to EE
