I would think many people would feel that means you can date.
That you haven’t so far maybe just means you aren’t ready or you haven’t met someone interesting. Maybe you now feel ready to start looking

It wasn't an official separation agreement. I went to a lawyer and told him about the separation and asked questions. But the visit is documented.

Here in Ontario, separation agreements are not necessary unless children are involved.
No fault divorce is an option if the parties have lived apart for one year. Almost all divorces happen on this basis.

I was just going to write to this effect.
I don't have/ don't need a separation agreement but it it's not a bad idea that the separation is documented with a lawyer. I went to ask him what my basic rights are.
