Memes have been found to have some beneficial emotional and psychological effects.
Memes about stressors can support people’s ability to cope with that stressor.
Directly addressing the stressor through humorous memes can have a beneficial effect on individuals’ emotional states.
In the midst of all the global chaos from pandemics to wars, economic pressures, natural disasters and information overload memes can be therapeutic.
And not just the lighthearted, silly ones about cats or TV shows.
Memes are often about existential dread, and an uncertain future.
At first glance, it might look strange to joke about such serious issues.
But for some of us, humor isn’t just entertainment, it’s a survival tool.
Dear Diary:
Mark Carney catalyzed the great meme explosion of 2026 with one complaint - Stop the Memes!
It is now Day 3 of the Meme Wars.
When politics starts looking like a full-blown circus, sometimes the only rational response is to laugh at the absurdity.
So far So Good!
Noted: @Mendalla :
If a meme is a personal attack on a member, group attack on an identifiable group (a religion, LGBTQ+, racial minority, etc.), or has explicit sexual or violent content, expect mod action. You are inclined to being provocative, which I appreciate at times, but sometimes provocative content is also not in keeping with our values. Tread carefully in selecting your memes. But a meme diary in general could be fun.
