Ew. Adding sugar to any kind of melon is, like, overkill. I have never been fond of melons to start with.

My mom baked like crazy; cakes, pies, squares, cookies, muffins, you name it. Sweet for sure but I don't recall her overdoing it that badly.

I'm jealous, sigh.

My dad used salt
Salt? On melons? *screws up face*

My parents used to sprinkle sugar on grapefruit halves for breakfast. I still eat grapefruit but don't sweeten it (and I just peel and eat like an orange). Guess I'm a bit of a sourpuss. :giggle:

I have salads with a sweet dressing (the avocado chickpea salad we make for lunch sometimes uses a honey-lime dressing) but sugar on lettuce seems a bit much.

Weird thing is, I married someone from a culture that doesn't bake at all (most homes in China don't have an oven even today). I almost wonder if my diabetes is from sugar deprivation rather than excess. :ROFLMAO:
Many homes here in Korea are the same - no oven. We rely a lot on our air fryer. Yobo thinks fruit is the perfect dessert

Yeah, that seems to be the East Asian thing. The rare times the Chinese bother with a cake for a birthday or something, they just go to a bakery. They do have some interesting fruit and fruit dishes, at least.

Would be great to try. The Koreans I've known have just liked fruit not made into anything. Would you like dessert? Please, have an orange
