As a child in the UK Halloween was a time many people stayed safely at home. Local churches connected it to Bad Spirits that should be avoided.
In Canada it had become more of a fun time for many. Churches still viewed it as something negative. Sime taught that Christian chhildren should not be allowed to dress as ghosts and other scary things.O.

This year one local church is offering a Halloween party. They are encouragung dressing up and will be feeding lots of umhealthy food.

I;m windering how Halloween plays out where you live.

At my former congregation, the parking lot was set up for trick or treating prior to the Sunday service. Fun time. People gave out candy from their cars and some folks put up decorations.

The Sunday school kids all came early for the event and the neighborhood kids were invited. We got lots of kids from the general area.

Why do you assume that we all live in Canada?

my view on this

If this Halloween party and the serving of unhealthy food is being held inside the Church -----then to me this says -----this Church is a Worldly viewing Church whose foundation relies on the god of this world ---- ----who came to kill --steal and destroy God's Holy Church who Christ is the Cornerstone of -----

Jesus out of Righteous anger turned over the Money Changers tables and that was outside the Church in the courtyard ----and said verse 17

Mark 11
15 After Jesus and his disciples reached Jerusalem, he went into the temple and began chasing out everyone who was selling and buying.

He turned over the tables of the moneychangers and the benches of those who were selling doves. 16 Jesus would not let anyone carry things through the temple.

17 Then he taught the people and said, “The Scriptures say, ‘My house should be called a place of worship for all nations.’ But you have made it a place where robbers hide!”

I say---
-so it seems God doesn't like Churches holding Halloween even out in His Court yard -----just saying -----

Satan is a killer ---Robber and Stealer ----and God doesn't seem to want  on His Turff mixing his Dark with God's Light -------

Halloween Origin

When it comes to the history of Halloween, the first place to start is the pagan tradition of Samhain, practiced by the ancient Celts from October 31 to November 1 in what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France.

According to History.com, the Celts and Druids believed that on Samhain, “The boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred.”

Furthermore, on October 31, the Celts believed that the spirit world would become visible to humans, and the ghosts of the dead would return to earth to cause trouble, damage crops, and otherwise play tricks on the living

For this reason, the Druids would often build large communal bonfires to offer sacrifices to the Celtic deities. The Celtic people also left token offerings outside of their village to appease the fairies, ghosts, and spirits.

the Celts would also tell each other’s fortunes, share scary stories, and wear animal or monster costumes to try and trick the roaming spirits into leaving them alone.
Obviously, this isn’t the kind of pagan ritual or tradition the Bible would ever condone.

I say ------So we see that the focus was on the Dark side of the Spiritual realm ---in its beginning ------Then

The the Catholic church -----no surprise -----tried to change the theme -----and bring some light into the picture by Mixing the Dark with the Light --------

and we know that God Hates MIXTURE and Lukewarmness as per Scripture -----

November 1 became known as All Saints' Day in the Catholic church, and in AD 1000, the church made November 2 All Souls' Day, with many of the same traditions of Samhain, including giant bonfires, parades, and costumes of saints, devils, and angels, still being practiced.

in preparation for All Saints' Day on November 1, on which venerated saints, also known as “hallows,” were celebrated, the night before became known as the eve of all-hallows or All Hallows’ Eve. Eventually, the day was known as Halloween.

God says this -------about mixing pagan traditions with God's Church ------

2 Corinthians 6:14-17

Christians and Their Relationships with Unbelievers

14 Stop forming inappropriate relationships with unbelievers. Can right and wrong be partners? Can light have anything in common with darkness?
15 Can Christ agree with the devil?

Revelation 3:15-16

15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

I say -------Halloween has caused major division among Christian Groups ----

Is there a Balance ????? ====For some True Christians maybe ---but for others Not and so the Disagreement carries on --and on and on and ON -----

Worldly People will Celebrate Halloween the way worldly they are supposed to ----under their god of this Planet ----who is -----Guess Who ----

True Christians will continue to be conflicted and divided about this day's Celebration ----weighing the light and darkness side of this Day ----Hopefully explaining the difference to their Children who want very much to take part in this candy rush day--:giggle:

Newton's laws ... what faces the drive for triumph-ism? Doth God like moderation ...

Then some gods require silence from their slaves and will not listen to what their service provided ... pride or hubris? Ho breeze ...

Halloween is a big celebration in our community. The church joins in on the daytime celebration in the local village BIA - they put their awning in the mainstreet location with many other organizations & people dress in fun costumes & give out treats to all who stop by. Families wander the main street & stop by many of the shops for treats too. It was a gorgeous sunny day this year.

There was a meme circulating - the gist of which was Halloween is that one time of year when we accept all strangers no matter their appearance, behave kindly, give gifts unconditionally - wouldn't that be great if we did that every day of the year?

THe local Anglican church hosted a Trunk or Treat Saturday afternoon. My daughter attends their youth group and so was there to help, they had more people than they expected.

In the power search among humble people ... what proportion of the demons would actually be losers and watching the emperors failing?

How much of this under sight would irritate those up there as if someone was watching from the catacombs ... making a fine misty legend ...
One would have to read the back story on nemesis!

I was saying that to myself as I was walking with Zach Saturday night. Of course, there was a house handing out shots to the parents so it could have been the alcohol talking.
