My mom always said that to discard a bible, it should be wrapped in white paper and buried.

I have tossed a few in the recycle bin myself.

People will do and say all kind of things in the name of religion. I think there are much more humans who need the safety of given rules to live their lives than the uncertainty of “ make up your own mind”. You can see that in the MAGA politics as well. It wouldn’t be that popular if people would think for themselves.
People, I believe Mrs. A, have a need for both structure and freedom in their spiritual lives. As a Pastor, I strive to balance those needs. I encourage personal discernment and the active engagement of the Holy Spirit. The faith journey's both a personal and communal experience, where Christians learn and grow together

Just another portal for soles to escape through into the myth that is without proper company ... the carrion out there ... how things come around ...

Dr Hawkins raised this well sprung plot ... things do accumulate in the darkness and shades ... princess and princesses ... chasing pum kin ... pump them up ... what do you get ... triumphant inflatables ... these will go for bust because they do not know when enough is enough ... seedy?

Tend to leave my old ones just gathering dust on various shelves. These days, I mostly just use Bible Gateway
My NIV study Bible lives on a shelf. I have 4 others stored in a cabinet for sentimental reasons.

I use my hard copy NET quite a bit. I bought a large print edition and it's easy on the eyes. It lacks the study notes but these can be found on Bible Gateway.

Portique O'z ... that's sum place where it all comes together! Mystical spot of vanishing matter ... some powers believe it insubstantial ...

Then others cannot gather for reasons of emotional discontent ... unsatisfied sole ... drives the happy wanderer ... dancing like Ma Tilde AH ... always that leaning or Kant when going about the mound ... casting shadows? Sometimes in the morning when ... oh never mind ...

Another resource I really like using is Enduring Word

I have the RSV I got for my confirmation and an NIV that Mrs. M got from her roommate back when we were dating. She has a Chinese Bible, too. Not sure of the source. Her grandmother was Christian so maybe her. But, yeah, I mostly use Bible Gateway nowadays. Or the YouBible app, which I think is their app. Same mix of translations and versions anyhow. Make comparing versions and that sort of thing easy since you can switch version on the fly.

Then there is the sense of lieben it "B"!

In some tongues:
From Middle High German liebe (“joy, affection, kindliness”), from Old High German liob, lioba (“fortune, health, pleasantness, joy”), from Proto-West Germanic *leubu (“love”).

Some deviation may be noted in how de "lie" "ben" laid out ... its IHC! That is if all self-centred like the nihilist! It is an understanding like roots of the tree of knowledge ... hid in the forest EH? Otherwise there be morels ... no ET hic thingy ... the headless horseman ... may resemble Pinocchio's knowledge ... what Heh Knows ... as a wooden measure ... mensuration ... folk get confused over this time ... and don't know when to get out!

Thus wooden stakes for those dead ... they must be secured ... Zoe MB's ... like anima ... with variant! Ever feel left all alone? During these periods one might process a bit ... dippy? Perhaps like Einstein observed ... places we can't relate to ... still stand there like porti COS! Very sacred and private ... place for intimate code ... as metaphor ... Deja vu? Feral sensation ... like psyche ... a hammered feeling ... how it got innere ... innate? Nathan, or Naomi ... OHM-I!

I have probably a dozen bibles, only three of which I use regularly. The only book I have ever put in the recycling box is the yellow pages; everything else auto goes to a thrift shop.

Autogoes???? Without a concern, worry, bother, etc. The initiation of simplicity ... what happens at the top end!

Some find this upsetting and recirculating as a virus ... mental gambit! Small light and dark as Bos hun ... flying cows ...

It's not as smooth a process as you'd think. I actually conscripted two gfs with vans to come over and take a load of books to the thrift shop. Not because I couldn't do it, but because every time I try and get rid of a box of books, one or two them slip out of the box and back into the house.

I have deemed some books, including Bibles, to be not worthy of donation. If they are torn or falling apart I recycle them.

Fair enough, but the only of my bibles that are "torn or falling apart", are my two absolute favs, so I keep them mended enough to be usable; there is a great deal of book tape, brown paper reinforcement and duct tape involved.

That old RSV I mentioned isn't in the greatest shape, but it's not fall apart or anything. Rarely crack it open anymore since my preferred version is the NRSV but just for reading sometimes.

I have an old RSV that was my mom's. I also have two "antique" family heirloom Bibles. Now these ones are actually falling apart but I am keeping them.

Our house holds my KJV Bible that my Nana gave me for Christmas when I was seven. Also Mt Curler's Bible and his mother's. There is an RSV Bible I got for a Bible study many years ago, and a NEB from when it first came out in the early sixties maybe. None have been opened in almost endless years.

Hey @KayTheCurler
I, too, was given a KJV when I was 7 and I still have it. It has a white zippered cover and several coloured illustrations inside.

I also have a Concordance that was presented to me when I joined CGIT at the age of 12.

I have an old "Comprehensive Teacher's Bible" (the text of Scripture appears to be KJV and also has some study help) that came through my Grandfather's family -- it was first gifted in 1893 according to the flyleaf.

In 2019-21 the church received two beautiful old Bibles:
