This certainly fits here. It’s hilarious but also highlights how obscenely commercial Christmas became - maybe Covid was a real turning point? That depends on which ‘side’ is viewing the ad. The side that wants good ol’ ‘merikan values and traditions (validated by capitalism) to come back because they think that’s their God given right and freedom (of ‘religion’) - or the side that says, “I’m kind of done with this. There are other priorities in the world and people in my life and this is getting in the way.” I’m also inclined to think Travolta knows it’s obscenely commercial but he’s doing his part to highlight it with satire (while he gets some income from it - irony not lost. But he doesn’t ‘need’ the money so he’s doing it for some other, possibly subversive, reason. Or maybe he is deliberately just giving capitalism a boost!) It reminds me of Adbusters Magazine but it’s a real ad! I see the irony whether it was intended to be missed, or not.
