Prix fixe menu with a wine suggestion for each course? Not really our cuppa.

@chansen , thanks for the reminder about Beaver. Once we see when ski season is going to start (hopefully sooner this year than last year) we'll probably start planning a trip or two up. You're a bit closer than Blue, too. We passed the gate to Beaver on our way to Blue last time.

Eigensinn Farm looks fabulous. I'd love to eat there - but, yeah, the price. When a restaurant doesn't put its price on its website that I could find it's probably too rich for me, and they're probably not trying to attract me. (A little bit of research on other sites suggest anywhere from $250-$350 per person.)

We have a real good fish and chip restaurant in Beaverton. Serviettes AND clean metal knives and forks provided! And definitely less than $250 per person!

My folks swear by The Thistle in Burlington. My wife doesn't deal well with greasy foods, so we don't do fish and chips any more.

For those who don't like deep-fry, McNies also offers their fish grilled, and fresh, crisp salad can be had by those who care not for fries. Are other places not the same?
 
Actually, the best fried fish we get these days is from the hot counter at one of our Chinese grocery stores. Don't usually have it with chips, though, needless to say. Usually either rice or chow mein.

Nope! There's a place here with a gluten-free fryer. Over the phone they told me they also had a fish-free fryer. That person clearly had no idea. It turned out the only option I had was coleslaw.

No grilled or baked fish? Where's the "dislike" link when we need one.

Well, at least they're doing something for folks who are gluten-free, and folks who are allergic to seafood (at least, I guess that's the idea).

I don't typically expect to be able to eat at a fish and chips place. I thought that place might have been different due to the gluten free options as well as one of the owners having a mild fish allergy which is why I asked on the phone. Otherwise I would have grabbed some food first!
