FYI, Amazon's cloud division, Amazon Web Services, has been having problems since around 3am. Affected sites have included, at various times, Amazon themselves, Reddit, Snapchat, Zoom, Venmo, Apple Music. I've heard 1000+ companies affected. Some games like Fortnite and Roblox have been impacted. Education software, healthcare software. It's all over the map. So if a favourite app of yours is acting up, that might be the problem.

Really points out how centralized the Internet has become in the cloud era. 20, 30 years ago there's no way a single provider going down could have done this much damage. 63% of cloud applications are hosted in one of Amazon, Google, or Microsoft so any one of those blowing up is bad news, though Amazon is the biggest and therefore the worst.

I should add that there is no impact on us. We use a small local provider in Eastern Ontario to host the Wondercafe2 site, not one of the big three.

Two retired MS Engineers, back in the runup to Y2K, declared to me that the entire internet would crash at some point because humans had too much faith in machines!

Consider the loyalty and faith in the trumped up machine! The bible speaks about it ... and the option of keeping the way clear ... especially for nothing!

This is a creeping item of concern ... Ani!

Same. There were issues with one site I am on but it was still up and they were not insurmountable.

It impacted wordle. I had done wordle during the night and this morning it had none of my history.

Smart beds that are dependent on the cloud? Good Lord. I won't even use an Internet connected thermostat or appliances. This is Internet of Things gone batshit crazy.
