"Metaphors for existing facts are not the same as alternative facts...or lies. But when people take the bible literally, and without appreciating nuance..that is dishonest. The bible wasn't written to be an encyclopedia of fact. It is an artistic mirror reflecting truths about the human condition...and it's never rung more true to me than it is now." Kimmio

Nicely said!

Nuance ... ennui? Perhaps conversion potential when desire may change to thoughts about ... "should I have done that"?

Many are too thick skinned and insensitive to the entire paradigm of God to be recognizant of such things ... that are non-physical!

Ear candling and homeopathy would be two good examples.

I've got some faith in Chinese Medicine, chiropractors and SOME herbal remedies (simple things, like catnip or valerian for sleeping aids, for instance). There's some serious nuttiness out there, though.

In all things severe indication of Oak y trees devoid of epistemology!

Gonads with propound thoughts for buried talents ...

Up she comes ... or Shiva as a sign of wee death ...

There are a few alternative medicines I use for minor complaints also. It's not considered so nutty in BC. I haven't tried ear candling, though - and I am not keen to. Not that I don't think it would work. It just sounds unpleasant.

"After incorrect or unprovable statements made by Republican President Donald Trump and some White House aides, one truth is undeniable: Sales of George Orwell's 1984 are soaring.

"First published in 1949, Orwell's classic dystopian tale of a society in which facts are distorted and suppressed in a cloud of "newspeak" topped the best-seller list of Amazon.com as of Tuesday evening. The sales bump comes after the Trump administration's assertions his inauguration had record attendance and his unfounded allegation that millions of illegal votes were cast against him last fall.

"Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway coined an instant catchphrase Sunday when she called his claims about crowd size "alternative facts," bringing comparisons on social media to "1984."

"Orwell's book isn't the only cautionary tale on the Amazon list. Sinclair Lewis' 1935 novel about the election of an authoritarian president, It Can't Happen Here, was at No. 46. Aldous Huxley's Brave New World was at No. 71.

"Sales also were up for Hannah Arendt's seminal nonfiction analysis The Origins of Totalitarianism."

Monk - do you follow Robert Reich's blog at all? He's got some pretty interesting POV on the election.
And then there's this - from Britain ... an interesting perspective from Plato - tyranny arises from democracy ... added to with interesting graphics & musics to be quite chilling, to me at least ... (sorry, couldn't get it to embed, so linked instead)

@Carolla Watched both parts ...
I think Plato also suggested that ...the tyrant will eventually overreach and force unto himself a fear of those around him, effectively limiting his own freedom. The tyrant always runs the risk of being killed in revenge for all the unjust things he has done. He becomes afraid to leave his own home and becomes trapped inside. Therefore, his lawlessness leads to his own self-imprisonment.
Chilling Indeed!

Could explain large Wahl and weals as the meat of the story is revealed by turning the tripe about ... disembowelment ... hoo knows chit when we are eliminated by de powers just to make waves ... in the beyond or eternal domain ... god rifts?

A friend said in conversation yesterday that Trump must have a death wish. At the rate he is pissing people off his life could get snuffed out by an assassin. The US are to do known for that and this guy is really stirring things up!

That would be beyond stupid. He'd be a martyr for douchebaggery.

Besides, if the secret service can keep a black president from being assassinated, they should be able to save Trump from some hippies.

Somebody with his personality type - he can't help it, it's unsettling but it's not his fault - needs to be admired. He needs to know that if he changes tack sooo many progressive liberals will love him. All those extra people who voted for Hillary will like him better because he did the right thing. He will have so many more admirers than now. He will be loved by everyone if he makes good decisions everyone likes. His high ratings will go international. He honestly doesn't understand why there are people who don't like him, when clearly, in his opinion, everyone should. It's as simple as that. He can make decent decisions but he needs a self-fulfilling motivation. He would not be the first man like him in power. Just maybe the first in the west in a few decades. Hopefully good diplomats are figuring that out. Now that he's in - protesters shouting him down may even make it worse. I don't know if the world can afford that. It's a different era for the next few years.

He is, I think, actually doing what he promised for the people who elected him. That doesn't mean they're necessarily going to like the outcome of it - his policies are going to hurt the economy and rising food prices will hurt families, if he impedes trade with Mexico, for example - but he is plowing ahead.

douchebaggery

Can that be redacted rendered and condensed to de saac or Rome or just the I Saac of as 'ole that feeds on stuff that should be going instead of coming ? None-the-less this virtue appears clear, or transparent! The focus is thus unseen ...
