91 years, 1000 women, what's that average out to? - RIP, Hef

He built a media empire. He could be controlling, but I've not heard him be described as a tyrant. Not sure how you describe Mendalla's post as "stupid".

One's attitude to women does not mean one cannot be thoughtful and level-headed in how one conducts business. I highly doubt Hef would be pushing us to the brink of war with North Korea or picking fights with football leagues. And, given his editorial stances over the years, we would likely have a socially liberal administration that was pro-choice and pro-LGBTQ rights. IOW, like it or not, a big improvement over what they have now.

As if being a good business man should negate his negative impact on women being treated like objects and commodities and what an ideal woman looks like.

Of course it doesn't.....but what was that business again.....oh yeah, profiting off of beautiful women.

I was comparing Hefner to the current regime, not saying he was in any way morally upright or an ideal candidate. See my post above though.

I have to thank @crazyheart for liking this on FB which brought it to my attention.

It's stupid because how one's attitude toward women and how one runs a business are not somehow mutually exclusive. It's not like saying his favourite flavour of ice cream has nothing to do with how he can run a business (which would've therefore make him a better president). Women are human beings and half of the voting population, and more than just pretty play-things to be held in seperate regard from other decisions in civic life and society - if he were to have been POTUS. It's like saying someone who built a business out of exploiting minorities would make a level headed POTUS. That's why it's stupid. Anyhooo...

He was certainly described by a few playmates as a tyrant. And his business empire was built on exploiting women.

Just supporting and agreeing with Waterfall. Try this on:

One's attitude toward lawn ornaments shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as a POTUS.

One's attitude toward tea cups vs. mugs shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS

One's attitude toward uncooked vegetables shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS.

One's attitude toward women shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions as POTUS.

Now:

One's attitude toward global warming shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS.

One's attitude toward ethnic minorities shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS.

One's attitude toward healthcare shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS.

One's attitude toward women shouldn't affect their ability to make level headed business decisions, as POTUS.

Okay, once again.

I am not advocating for Hugh Hefner as POTUS. I am merely saying he would have been a less bad choice in some regards than the twit who is in there now. If you think that is "stupid", so be it.

I was thinking it's more like admiring Pol Pot or Stalin for their leadership abilities over Trump.

To make your original point you, perhaps subconsciously, objectified women. That's why it was a "stupid" comment, imo.

But that's not so much a reflection on you as it is on subconscious attitudes and how much inequality society has grown to accept as normal and unchangeable.

I think Hef may have made a few cooler headed decisions too - but maybe not. In terms of looking out for and catering to the 1% - and wealthy, mostly white, men - that was what he built his life on. Not much different from Trump. And Hef was something of an eccentric celebrity. We really didn't see the full scope of his personality on display, so we don't know. That said I think there are millions of Americans who would've made a better POTUS than either one of them.
