Haven’t seen it in Canadian press, but in German press people are all exited about following the british swimmer and his knitting creations.

So is the scoring judged or just based on time taken and number of stitches?

Also, types of knitting technique. My sister does some sort of wyrd Portuguese technique that involves a pin on her shoulder and more minimal hand movements. Also, the double loop magic.

Northwind, I wish there was some way you and my sister could connect. She's sort of magic, and I think you guys could trade ideas infinitely.

My last pair of "scrap socks" were a lot of fun.

And Canada's medal total is at 23, the highest at a non-boycotted games. Latest was women's C-2 canoe getting silver.

London is talking about having a celebration. Including members of teams, there were five gold medals awarded to Londoners. Final total:

Maggie Mac Neil (1 of each colour: gold in 100m butterfly, silver in 4x100 freestyle, bronze in 4x100 medley)
Damian Warner (gold in decathlon)
Susanne Grainger (gold in women's 8's rowing)
Jessie Fleming (gold in women's soccer)
Shelina Zadorsky (gold in women's soccer)

The problem is going to be organizing the celebration. Only Mac Neil and Warner are coming back to London (Maggie is actually already home). Grainger lives in BC with her husband, and the two soccer players have to return to England where they play pro. And Mac Neil attends University of Michigan so will be leaving for school soon. Organizing a celebration that includes all of them could be an Olympic event unto itself.

Gold for Kelsey Mitchell in Women's Sprint Cycle. First Canadian medal in this event since Athens in 2004 when Lori Ann Muenzer took gold.

This will probably be the final 2020 Olympic post but this story was too good to pass up. A Belgian teacher who didn't take up marathon running until three years ago when she was 35 came 28th out of 88 competitors in the women's marathon. Quite a finish given it was only her third full marathon.
