2 Corinthians 1:1-11
2 Corinthians opens with greetings from Paul and Timothy.

The two of them have experienced great difficulty in the province of Asia. They have been burdened with despair but God delivered them from the risk of death.

The God of mercy comforts us in all our troubles so that we may comfort others. Join us in prayer, asks Paul.

Snoopy's Snappy Review: 2 Corinthians 1: 1-11
Comfort. A wonderful concept which speaks to the Beagle today. Who knows why? :dog:

this Chapter reminds us tat God is our sole comforter ---and He uses our sufferings to draw us closer to Him ---this Chapter inspires us to rely on and Trust God's faithfulness to do as He says He will do in His word to comfort us during our times of affliction --persecution and sufferings ---so we can give comfort to others in their sufferings

Pauls Praises God --which all Christians should do regularly --in all aspects of our life ---He is our life giver ---our way out of our troubles ----He is always Faithful to be there for us ---

Paul reminds them of their troubled times in Asia how they felt within themselves that they thought they had received their sentence of Death but this happened so they would Not Rely on themselves but Rely on God as God is the one who rescues us from the great Threat of Death and continues to rescue us from our trials ----

Hebrews 4:16. It says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

We should set our hope on God ----so our hope is not in vain ---

Paul says that by their praying they are helping ----the Scripture clearly says it does -----

James 5:16 AMP
The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].

Praising God and giving thanks before Prayer is very effective and powerful as well ----

Praising God is a pwerful act that can bring about positive change, strengthening faith, inviting His presence, and even releasing His power to work on our behalf.

2 Corinthians 1: 12-24
Paul explains that he will not be visiting the Corinthians at this time.

Is Paul still figuring out this leadership thing? :dog:

Is Paul still figuring out this leadership thing?
Paul here is defending his Integrity in hopes that the Church will come to understand him fully as we have seen in Chapter 1 his Church doesn't fully trust his Ministry --they only partially trust him - and he is hoping that they can boast about him as he can boast about them when the Day of the Lord comes ----

Then Paul defends himself as to his change of plans as he may appear indecisive or fickle to the Church ---as he says this verse 17
17 So then, was I indecisive or capricious when I was [originally] planning this?

He tells them that God has affirmed this faithfulness ---he also tells them that God has set his seal of ownership on them ===

Paul says he didn't come to rule over their Faith but to work with them for their joy ---

I say -----Poor Paul is always trying to defend himself in one way or another to his Church --it is a good job God has given him the Patience to endure gaining their trust ----

Hi @unsafe and anyone else who might be following Snoopy's efforts here.

It was recommended to me a few years ago to read the letters when I finished the gospels. But I am finding them incredibly dry. I tried to get into Acts at one point and found it much the same.

A few chapters, such as 1 Corinthians 13, have been notable exceptions.

So I am planning to shift gears. I might return to John's Gospel because I have spent less time with it than the synoptics. Yeah, that might be good.

I have already hosted threads on some of the material (the signs and more). And we just finished a ten week study on John at church. The study guide we used hit various highlights.

Hmmm. I have yet to decide on an approach for discussing it on WC2.

The whole thing is dry to me. I don't know how you get through any of it.

Part of me would love to read it to find the hilarious bits, but the grind is too much. This is historically where other WC2 members come in handy.

Some of it is a slog, that's for sure. Even the Psalms I can only handle in small doses.

The only part of that seems intentionally humorous to me is Paul's letter about the body parts. It is found in 1 Corinthians.

There are some unintentionally hilarious bits. Like the righteous Noah getting drunk in the OT.

My View ---
You might get more responses by going back to the Gospels -----as we are still in the Old Testament Laws that Jesus has come to fulfil there --- it seems your regular posters are more apt to post their views there than they are under the New Covenant of Grace -----as we have seen since you started Corinthians ----it only has been --you --Jaebius and myself posting mostly ----others have bowed out --

So it seems better for you to stay in the Old Testament or the Gospels where Jesus is alive so you can have more activity in the Thread -----

For me the New Testament is not dry at all and there is much to learn from reading and studying the New Testament -----but that is just me ------

I am happy to post in whatever Bible Chapter you choose --I appreciate your commitment and hard work that it takes in setting up and hosting this type of a study Group -----so Many Thanks to You ---and a big (y)
