Imagine an all-knowing and all-powerful god, at least somewhat related to the "God" of the bible. Imagine this being watching the hucksters and the deluded, claiming they know exactly what this god wants us to do. Imagine this god watching all this play out, yet saying nothing.
That may be the best argument against "God" there is. How do you let these people pass as your spokesmen and spokeswomen (thought mostly spokesmen), and do nothing?
The other alternative is this god is an absolute a**hole, and these people are right.
The best outcome for Christianity, between these two possibilities (if we limit it to these two), is non-existence. Otherwise, you've been worshipping a tyrant.
Maybe nothing is the key word as often spoke of by adolescents when asking what they are doing in a dark family room ... familiarizing with what? I don't know a thing about that either ... when a teenager it bother me into a frenzy ... because of what my mum's minister had to say about celibacy ... he had six offspring that all went for elevated educations ... although their father said knowledge was evil as it led to philosophizing ... rather abstract science as it is hard to look into! An incarnate order of absorption ... reflects badly ...
No, the various interpretations, meanings, religions, denominations, and on and on......What Crap --His own Word ?????????

Well that is the way of the world -------All religions are a big fat Man Made Farce ---and the Ministers teaching in them are mostly from this world -----Many --many are not true Disciples so they cannot interpret the Spiritual meaning of the Scripture to anyone ------every piece of scripture has a Spiritual meaning ======but only those with the indwelling Holy Spirit has the ability to grasp the Spiritual meaning ---as you have seen right here on this thread -----misinterpreting scripture to suit their own agenda ------no spiritual understanding of it -----

OK, let me be serious for a moment. This is difficult for me.
unsafe, all the cult leaders do this. They cherry pick certain verses as being unassailable and "the Word of God". Generally the scary ones, like you bring to us.
There are lots of other verses that are more congruent with what other denominations believe, including the United Church.
If there was only one reasonable interpretation, Christians would coalesce around that interpretation and there would be no need for so many denominations.
Your reading of the bible, which is undoubtedly inspired or informed by others, highlights certain bits. Other people highlight other bits that are not in agreement with the scary/hilarious bits you really like. I'm with you, in that I like the bits about a lamb writing in a book by holding a quill between its toes, of which it sorta has two, which, again, checkmate atheists.
The only way Christians can come off as anything other than insane to the population is when they come together in community and do good. All the other stuff, like going off alone to shout on a street corner, or this digital street corner, does the faith no good. If your goal is to tell people how to save their souls, you're failing in spectacular fashion. Seriously. If you truly believe this stuff, then you're the one consigning people to hell, because you sound absolutely cuckoo and no one is taking you seriously.
And while we have lurkers, I'm sure, it's gonna be mostly Stephen Booth and maybe a couple of shy stragglers. Stephen is already with you, and man, what a stable, honourable individual to have on your side.
This is the part I don't get about your efforts here. It's like you're trying to cast people into the pits of hell. Are you worried about there being enough space at the inn for yourself? Is this like pulling the fire alarm so you can get to the buffet before they run out of the good stuff?
Nothing else makes sense. But I do wonder if any "God" worth his salt would be happy with you? You make him look so petty and evil. OK, the bible does as well, but while others gloss over the threats, you bring them to us like a cat bringing home and showing off the roadkill it found. I mean, you didn't even kill it, and either way, ew.
This will not change your approach. I'm aware. But now and then I'll make a post like this, just on the off chance that something sticks. I'm a rather optimistic pessimist.

The Bible from front to back focuses on putting God;s will ahead of our own. Ours is self-oriented and leads to all the woes in the world out of conflict with the self-interest of others. God's will merely states servitude to His will and to each other, including enemies. It is that simple. Jesus' only gospel was the Gospel of the Kingdom which focuses on that conflict of wills. Mankind prefers to philosophize and make it about self as usual. We have made a world in our own image and want God to fit into it. This, instead of reversing our thinking to fit into His. He doesn't need to read the manual, He wrote it.
That fresh thought will give those believing they are fixated, anchored for all time ... willies! Another stormy night of sole looking for alteration ...

Such is the result of relying on human tradition.
But what if even the concept of a God as idealism is way out of touch of common folk and their subdued senses ... under blind bonding factors! It all goes dark ... one must get in there with a wee light to observe much of the downsides ... negative to the bottom line? Such is extraction or elimination theory under powers of vast avarice. In the physical world this may reflect reciprocally as Pauling exclusionism ... and separation of mystical parts is a big concern.
This stands with other powers too as the declare; "separate and destroy!" Is there and familiarity to this expression ... unless there are positive and negative versions of such virtue? Even that Roman Monster Constantine claims to have entered the red zone and experienced red cells ... Christianity? Then there is that notorious red tie ... a non-sense connector?
Recall in the diminishing of the trees of knowledge, life and wisdom has exalted consequences for those totally against nemesis ... no consequence ... then why be humble?
Imagine green mountainous upwellings serpentine rocks ... poly Meri C' structuring ... radical word shift and evolution so as God can hide in word ... literary manifestation of depth! Fine marble has that elegant shade ...

Ah but it was Christianity for the time being that bowed to the Empire, before later becoming one itself in man's image, not Gods. Even institutional Christianity rejected the Kingdom to whore itself to the Roman Empire, and has never repented nor apologized since.
