The thing that scares me most about cassowaries is pronouncing it correctly. Emus are terrifying. God needs to recall the cute horsies and substitute emus in their place.

I fall short in following Jesus, but when I hear messaging of those actively trying to bring on Armageddon,

I can't help but think that they will be harshly judged.

Whether it is an 18th century invention/interpretation or not, it doesn't matter. The entire thing is stupid and not remotely believable.

There are solid reasons to mock the whole faith back to the 18th century. It’s a virus - it will keep coming back, and while the strains may differ, the more deadly strains will always be around.

It's just that now the most virulent strains control the most powerful military in the world.
 
They have controlled it whenever Republicans get into office. This time is particularly weird and scary. But, I think of that movie Charlie Wilson’s War.

Regardless, hawks of all stripes try to manipulate religious beliefs of opposed groups to start wars - whether they believe in the religions or not - if it works out to their power advantage.

Well GordW ---not surprised you would think that of course ------as you view scripture as stories and not truth -----

but there is clearly Scripture on the rapture and on the Saints being raptured --- being caught up in the Scripture is definitely there ----Enoch was Raptured ----- Elijah was Raptured -----Jesus Was Raptured -----and Phillip was caught up ----so what makes you think that being Caught up ---Raptured is a theological invention ---that just makes no Spiritual sense -----
so 4 times people were raptured in scripture ------just because you or others might not believe in it ----does not mean it won't be happening ------

Acts 8:39-40, after Philip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly "caught away" or snatched him, leading to his miraculous appearance in Azotus.

So in your thinking this is a Theological invention by someone in the 19th century -----Blows My Mind ------

What a crap bit of scripture. It just says that if anyone rejects your crazy ass beliefs it's because they're not crazy enough to understand.

It's also a vaccination against common sense. "People are gonna call you out on this so we'll tell you they're gonna call you out so you see we're right."

How Chrtianity this survive this long? Unsafe has an unlimited supply of these lines.
 
Why does it even matter? What will be will be. More important to live in the ways commanded in the here and now
