Progressive: Too Christian for Atheists, not Christian enough for Christians

:) my church is a loving place. They accept me, if not prepared to engage me in theological dialogue. But they're good people

No problems! The most basic sense is I don't have a theistic view of God and I have a very non literal view of the bible.

Lol wow, thank you for such thoughtfulness. The phrase is probably a little overdramatic. I simply mean that being an extremely .... Non traditional Christian..... No literalism, big opinions on change in the church etc etc.... Most conservative or even centred church goers find it hard to...

Thank you so much. Everything you say definitely resonnates with my experience and viewpoints. It was a rough day in my faith journey, but it's nice to know that others have such a similar, yet unique position

You know, I hadn't considered that. I am a proud proud uccan member and at least somewhat educated on the goings on of the ucc.its always settled me the wrong way how outsiders seem to view us. Is it a pr issue?

Walter Brugghemein (soooooo the wrong spelling) has a theory about Sabbath being a time to "re Be" in preparation for the week. His concept is in reference to fighting mainstream society all week. But sometimes I feel like I have to "re Be" before going into the church I love to fight for...

Thank you so much for all that advice! I'm really very comfortable in the UCCan, at least as a whole. My congregation is not particularly "up" on the UCCan approach to things yet. That's just geography mostly.

Thanks! It's exciting to have your eyes opened to new ways of thinking, new ideas, new... church. That doesn't mean it's always easy or enjoyable. being sloughed off as "just life" is not necessarily enough, you know?

I completely agree with the first part. But what is the inside outside perspective? Wahl's? Clearly I'm not up on all this, sorry
