This situation is exactly what I've suggested many times before. There have to be members of more extreme churches who want to dial it down, but still believe.

I feel for kids like this. Usually these posts are from young atheists trying to navigate their lack of belief while living with Christian parents. This one is a twist on that, but I suggested a common approach.

Imagine trying to live as a child with a godde-gene raised by two devout atheists, one a brilliant man made a WW2 soldier from age 16-23 and a mad woman descended from a mad branch of an old Lithuanian family.

I think it's interesting how kids to adults adapt to/evolve from/ignore/are intrigued by various spiritualities.

The wisest advice I've ever heard (and I didn't have to deal with this, my parents were very kind and tried not to mock my various religious choices) is make sure you're independent and safe before you disclose anything that will cause a rupture in the sort of rigid people so inclined.

Would you believe that it's just as hard for Christian kids whose parents aren't Christians?

That's effectively what I told him.

There are opposite situations, but atheist parents aren't thinking Christian kids are going to miss out on atheist heaven. We don't have so much as a lemonade stand.

Agreed. For most of us non-theists, there's no streets of gold on offer, no merit stars for good behaviour. It's just non-life at the end of life, and probably, some memories of how pleasant our interactions with other humans might have been. Or not been, as the case may be.

Is God beyond fixation and other forms of intoxication with the way things are, were and the impossible ... anon ... that coming time that we are responsible for in a collective (integral) way ... now only if we could get some automatic item to do it ... and we wouldn't have to comprehend anything ... and so the wind blows ... responsibility is something we have trouble, bother and great concern about ... like a creature in the briar condition ... thorny eh! Thus urchins ... well toasted?
