Apparently, the big guy was on an Elvis Presley marathon today whilst I worked (which was good, as he needs quiet days adjacent to busy days; we are getting no younger). It continued upon my return from work, dinner prep, dinner and afterwards. I didn't watch all of it, as I was dinner, dishes, etc., but did find bits amusing to watch. He was very handsome and he did have a very smooth voice. Mike finds it entertaining to find things that I haven't seen, which is almost everything. I did, however, get my own back yesterday with Monty Python & The Holy Grail. I have subversive sort of tastes.

I'm reverting to my mother. I've been watching all seasons of "All Creatures Great and Small"
The original 1970-80s series or the recent version? From what you say, I'm assuming the 70-80s series, of which I was also a fan. Loved the books. Mom and I were both fans of Herriot. And Peter Davison, who played Tristan Farnon, went to another favourite show of mine: Dr. Who.

Yes, the original one.

Nope, I'm thinking it is the remake. Sorry about that.

Mom would have watched the original, i am sure, but, she also read the books if I remember correctly.

Is subversive like underground traditions ... buried and Gnostic? These rise up later as they don't stick well ...

We've been playing Catch Up. Apparently more episodes arrived so.....
Grey's Anatomy
Call the Midwife
Heartland.

Despite regularly suggesting All Creatures Great and Small I haven't convinced my guy to select it! Hope remains.

Call the Midwife???!!! That's great news.

We enjoyed both Grey's Anatomy and Heartland for several seasons but eventually bailed on both of them.

Heartland
I swear that's the series that will never die. 19 seasons and still going, though they've been doing fewer episodes per season of late I see from the episode guide in Wiki. Still has a long way to go to match UK shows like Coronation Street and Dr. Who but has to be one of the longer running Canadian scripted drama shows. Never really appealed to me but I've never really tried that hard, either.

We enjoy watching Heartland and recognizing the filming locations. Much time has been spent in High River and area as a kid lives there. We have seen many of the views with our own eyes!

Last night I finished watching Alias Grace a 6 hour miniseries created for CBC.

I watched it on Netflix and thought it was brilliant.

It is based on a Margaret Atwood novel which follows Grace Marks, a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer in 1843.

If "alias" is a false label ... what of the rest of that grace ... is it a given flat out deposition?

Alias Grace was a wonderful book. I rarely watch movies made from books I love. Atwood is a very clever and nuanced author and I'm not sure how well some of the ambiguities in the text would translate.
