A bias against wealth?

I'm not a fan of monopolies that dominate economies and thus people. They shouldn't be allowed IMO.
Which is another whole issue. Tesla is nowhere near to being a monopoly and, in fact, one of the great things is that they kind of broke the triopoly that is the Big Three US auto manufacturers.

There are arguably situations, though, where monopolies, especially state-owned ones, are preferable. Critical utilities like electricity, for instance, should probably be state-owned monopolies or even government agencies IMHO.

But in general, if we deem something to be the province of the private sector, then competition needs to be encouraged. Look at the mess that is our telecommunications sector. The big three (Rogers, Bell, Telus) can pretty much name their price since they control all of the infrastructure that the smaller firms ultimately rely on and the CRTC and Competition Bureau don't seem to have the balls to confront them.

One wealth story that had me smiling last night is about billionaire Mackenzie Scott. If the name isn't familiar, her ex is. She was married to Jeff Bezos of Amazon and owns a fairly big chunk of Amazon stock, enough to put her at #28 on the Forbes 500. Apparently she cashed out some of her Amazon stock and is contributing to organizations and institutions affected by the Trump administration's attack on DEI programs. Biggest is US$80M to Howard University, a historically Black educational institution. Nice to see one of the billionaire class consciously giving Trump and the anti-DEI crowd in general a big middle finger.

In the next 20 years, capitalism is coming down I think - at least in the ways we’ve known it in 50 years. We can already see the collapse like a train wreck - meaning, capitalism failed, and people shut out of it (the North American/ Western Dream is a lie) are getting increasing distraught, everywhere. What we value has to change. Mamdani signals a shift, maybe Greta will become a world leader…the leaders in the future won’t allow what’s happened in the recent past.

Some don’t have a choice to but rely on some money and if they aren’t seen as having useful talents with productive value, they’re dismissed. We are too used to thinking of humans that way which has led to brutality.

Explains the brutality of humans as they desire to live ... while the alternate dies ... and Sophistic is out there ... as a mental item!
