I’m not suggesting that people need to suffer excruciating pain or be politically minded while they’re imminently dying from terminal illness - to be clear. I do think palliative care needs to be the priority on offer.
All of track 2 needs to be repealed and there are multiple reasons why, not just the ones the MP’s petition mentions. It’s an issue before the Ontario Supreme Court, on the basis of articles 7 and 15 of the charter.
Do you happen to know if this petition was brought to her to initiate, with disabled people’s consultation? Everything could seem good about it, but that detail is important to ensure the motives and intentions are what they should be.

Disabled people and the UN are mentioned frequently in the wording of the petition to pass this bill. I don't know anything more about it than that.

I’m nervous that Danielle Smith and conservatives will ruin any attempts to change it in the rest of the country because of how their other policies are perceived by those who otherwise champion human rights. The necessary pushback against trad-conservatism and how it feeds fascism means disability rights will be collateral damage and conservatives messed us up by co-opting the issue. Both sides mixed it up with abortion. First the right, then the left in reaction to them. Seriously irks me. Meaning people whose side we’re on in terms of human rights are not onboard with us as much - more of an afterthought that’s been made difficult to build consensus on. This is different from how it was the 70s when gay rights, women’s rights, black rights, disability rights groups and unions were all on the same side. That necessary coalition isn’t strong because of conservatives co-opting and dividing the issue by conflating it with abortion. That automatically pits women’s’ rights against us and that was a dirty move. I’m not convinced they actually care. It’s just about religion in politics. And from there we become alienated from too many on the left. We need that broad coalition of groups but it’s everything far right conservatives hate and are trying to destroy. I’m not feeling positive about what’s happening.
I hope this MP’s human rights mentions can change that somewhat but we need people on the left. We need MPs on the left. I’m not signing it until I know more about it though.

I know this source is going to ruffle feathers. I’m posting it because, if true - and it certainly looks to be - this is alarming and needs attention on it, hopefully by more reporters. This is about a “secret” MAiD clinic in Vancouver, in a building that also holds a dialysis clinic across from it, and several Coastal Health Authority offices. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised if such a clinic exists. The fact that Coastal Health won’t confirm or deny it - they won’t answer questions - is sketchy. The photograph shows it clearly, it looks to be real, and I have no reason to believe that BC Catholic news would fabricate that, regardless of whether or not I generally approve or disapprove of their editorial content. In this instance, reporting on this is the right thing to do. We cannot just let our government set up secret MAiD facilities, with nobody to answer for them! They are preparing for expansion, is what it looks like. This is very concerning.

Interestingly, the dialysis clinic is run by Providence Health, the Catholic health authority, and “Horizon Space” (what a creepy name if it’s an undisclosed MAiD facility) allegedly right across from it, is run by Coastal Health - a provincial government health authority. To catch the run-off? That’s so opportunistically morbid. Makes me sick to think about.
There are mental health and substance abuse programs housed in the same building.

This story is scary. I worry about the attitude of the Coastal Health managers who set this up.
"Horizon" set a limit for our perspective and view ... makes us assume there's nothing beyond it ... worth a query!
The strong men so no way ... and there the death of the path eh?
Imagine folk following strong men ... what has possessed them but ... terror? Thus the reins ... and we get jerked out of what's "vere".
Vere also is an alien word that few dig into ...
Why is it that the paradigm fears word as a carrier of info, etc.? Therein a point Chris Tine ... like the Roman thorn that may appear as "þ" as penetrating as e' rose ... or maybe a UK alter ... a scruffy tree! Leaves me almost wordless as tyrants say silence before the low RD ...
