Not a bad long weekend here. Could have used more sun but after Saturday, there was minimal rain so we got some yardwork done.

Guess it was time for the "full Bette" to be released

The last of my Dad's boats are downstairs, I think there's 5/6 and all but 2 are unfinished. They are dusty, but they are neatly in a corner of the messy room I'm working on. There's a s**t ton of other stuff to get through to deal with that quiet safe corner where the boats sit on airy shelves. Every time the progress of this room is discussed {it's an old basement storage/work/junk room), which is now called Bette's Memory Lane, she goes on a total rant about rescuing the boats...

We have been asked to bring in historical church related items for our 100th anniversary service.

This is what I have:

My cradle roll certificate
My baptismal certificate
Explorer diary
CGIT autograph book
Concordance presented to me when I joined CGIT. (I used it over the years until Bible Gateway came along.)
Blue hymnbook

Certain treasures of mine survived a huge decluttering effort a few years ago.

I still have the RSV I received (gift from grandparents??) when I was confirmed. Yeah, I don't crack it much anymore. Either Bible Gateway or the YouVersion app (I think that's the one, basically Bible Gateway in app form) tend to be where I go these days.

I remember the blue hymnbook but haven't seen one in decades. Cool that you have one.

I also have my illustrated KJV which was presented to me on my 7th birthday. No confirmation gifts because I did not confirm as a young person.

I have a TR suggested by a Fundamentalist cousin with and open psyche, and a NIV from my excessively religious parent. I believe she was oblivious to the mystique in that book ... she took it all like stone! That can demolish both lower and upper pools ... birds scatter in the vicinity of a sling ... cat a pult?

I have my confirmation Bible and my Cross & Crown/year bars for Sunday School attendance. Each year when we got our bar we were also given a book (usually fiction) and I have a number of those still. The baptismal certificate is somewhere in this house too.

I think the set of blue hymnals went to the museum when our church closed in 2016.

I was at a church which gave away all its red hymnbooks when Voices United came out. Sure wish I had grabbed one of them.

The red hymnbook was a joint effort with the Anglicans

I have a copy of each of the hymn books (blue, red, Voices, Songs of a Gospel, More Voices) as well as some even older ones that belonged to Mom.
