The Republicans should have passed the bill to put more guards at the border.

Senator Lee Releases “Dirty Dozen” Disasters in So-Called “Border Deal”

The proposed border deal will not secure our border. Passing it into law would worsen the border crisis.

Here’s why:

  1. CODIFIES CATCH AND RELEASE: Gives the Secretary of Homeland Security unchecked authority to release an alien into the United States under ineffective “alternatives to detention.” The illegals only have to express “credible fear” of persecution or the intent to apply for “protection determination.” (SEC. 235B)
  2. ALLOWS UP TO 1.8 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS TO ENTER BEFORE TEMPORARILY CLOSING PARTS OF THE BORDER: The Secretary of Homeland Security is only required to shut down the border if there are 5,000 average illegal crossings over a consecutive seven-day period or 8,500 in a single day. The Secretary may shut down the border if crossings are at 4,000 daily average over a consecutive seven-day period. Even during a border emergency, this bill requires the administration to process a minimum of 1,400 illegal immigrants a day. This is 400 more per day than Obama’s DHS Secretary Johnson said constituted a crisis in 2019. (SEC. 244B)
2a.LOOPHOLES: Does not count any unaccompanied alien children from non-contiguous countries, suspected trafficking victims, aliens who are determined “exempted” based on decisions by ICE, or aliens who meet screening criteria for asylum. Also allows the reopening of the border once encounters are at 75% of the number that caused the shut down, so if the number was 10,000 per day, it only has to be reduced to 7,500/day to reopen.
2b.LIMITED DURATION: Limits the number of days each year where authority to shut down the border can be in place: 270 days in first calendar year, 225 days in the second year and 180 days in the third year. The period that this “border shutdown” is mandatory decreases – in year one, the first 90 days are mandatory; in year two, the first 75 days are mandatory; and in year three, only the first 60 days are mandatory.
2c. PRESIDENTIAL DISCRETION: Allows the president to reopen the border any time it is in the “national interest to temporarily suspend the border emergency authority” for up to 45 days.
  1. FUNDS SANCTUARY CITIES AND NGOs SENDING ILLEGALS AROUND THE COUNTRY: Includes $1.4 BILLION for more FEMA grants to NGOs that provide shelter, transportation, legal advice and other services to illegal aliens and $2.3 BILLION to HHS for Refugee Entrant And Assistance, a slush fund for services to unaccompanied alien children.
  2. SUBSIDIZES FREE, TAXPAYER-FUNDED LEGAL COUNSEL TO ILLEGAL ALIENS: Orders the Secretary of Health and Human Services to ensure that “all unaccompanied alien children who are or have been in the custody of the Secretary of Health and Human Services or the Secretary of Homeland Security…have counsel to represent them in legal proceedings” and free legal counsel for any illegal alien who a judge determines is mentally “incompetent.” Mandates that the government provide legal counsel for UACs 13 years old and under. (SEC. 3512-3513)
  3. EXPANDS PAROLE INSTEAD OF LIMITING IT: Does nothing to meaningfully limit President Biden’s abuse of parole. The language makes a fake exemption that seems to sanction Mayorkas' current abuse of parole. Under this bill, Mayorkas can parole in all these groups with the implicit approval of Congress. It also creates a dangerous EXPANSION of parole by saying it can now be granted for anyone the DHS Secretary determines has an “urgent humanitarian reason” to stay and any “culturally important purpose warranting the alien’s presence in the United States on Tribal land located at or near an international land border.” (SEC. 3146)
  4. INCREASES GREEN CARDS BY 50,000 PER YEAR FOR FIVE YEARS: This includes 32,000 family-based green cards and 18,000 employment-based green cards. Hurts American workers by importing cheap foreign labor. (SEC. 3402)
  5. WORK PERMIT FOR ADULT CHILDREN OF H-1B VISA HOLDERS: Hurts American workers by providing indefinite work permits to an estimated 250,000 adult children of H-1B nonimmigrant visa holders who will be competing for jobs with recent college graduates. (SEC. 3403)
  6. IMMEDIATE WORK PERMITS TO EVERY ILLEGAL RELEASED FROM CUSTODY AFTER THEY PASS AN INITIAL SCREENING: Current law requires a 6 months waiting period after filing an asylum claim before you can apply for a work permit. Under this bill, applicants are granted an IMMEDIATE work permit if they pass the initial asylum credible fear screening. (SEC. 235C)
  7. NOTHING TO DEPORT ILLEGALS: Does not require the President or Secretary of Homeland Security to deport anyone.
  8. AFGHAN ADJUSTMENT ACT: Creates a pathway to citizenship for over 60,000 poorly vetted Afghans who were brought to the country due to President Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. (SEC. 331)
  9. WEAKENS ASYLUM SCREENING BY CODIFYING BIDEN POLICY: Codifies the Biden asylum officer regulation and empowers USCIS asylum officers to grant asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention Against Torture without review by an Immigration Judge, ensuring significantly higher approval rates. (SEC. 3141)
  10. NO IMMEDIATE FUNDING FOR THE WALL: The bill claims to give $650 million for “building the border wall.” This is a budgeting gimmick without any new money. The bill would simply rescind current money and then put it back in with a later date (FY2028) so that President Biden and Sec. Mayorkas don’t have to build any wall and can delay spending money on the border wall. (SEC. 205)

Well did they suggest what they would accept? In other words until they agreed? Surely having more guards on the border would have helped. They were stalling, IMO.

If you ever want to read the most desperate book about humans gathering food for others in the U.S., and wish to cry without end, read Geronimo's Bones.

Geronimo's Bones: A Memoir of My Brother and Me (2004).

By the American author Tim Barrus who is best known for having published the "memoir" under the fictional identity of Nasdijj.

By which he presented himself as a Navajo.

Cited as an example of memoirs released under misleading pretenses.

Native Americans strongly criticized Barrus for appropriating the historic suffering of their people.

They criticized the publishing world for so readily accepting impostors.

I had a patient who told me he started working as a labourer at 12 years old. Different jobs, fish packing plant, working in the woods, lobster boats- until he couldn’t anymore in his early 60 ties. He was falling asleep while we were talking, because his health conditions wouldn’t give him a resting sleep anymore. He was clearly not quite getting all the factors needed to make his treatment fully successful and he also was missing treatments he should have had years ago. He was a hard working honest guy until he could no more. And I was thinking that this attitude is going extinct in younger generations. The reason why we have a workers shortage is because younger generations don’t want to do any job under any circumstances just to have a job.
That’s why we have those foreign workers. The farmworkers we have on the farm next to where I live are from Haiti and/ or Barbados and they work twice as hard in hot weather conditions as Canadians. They do get minimum wage or more ( this farmer treats them respectfully, but not everyone does). It ridiculous to limit the foreign workers because the goverment needs a scapegoat for their failed politics.

Is criminal activity getting more abundant as we look at examples of; "you don't have to do much if you do the dash and grab adequately"!

There are vivid leading examples ...

It may be why God is dead ... if God is truth nobody wants anything to do with it ...

Is a laid out organization of word dead, or living and evolving? May explain why in depth reading gives some folk paranoia!

The solution .... water skimmers ... light creatures ... so they will not sink as phoresies ... that's when the light sinks in!

There is even electrophoresis for separating the wee portions ... like a specter!

I was not aware that the Trump Administration was going to put limits on the Federal Temporary Foreign Worker programs in Canada.

It remains the most moving book I've ever read. Again, we're getting into the morality of artists. Did Pablo Picasso's open misogyny over-ride the intense anti-war painting that is Guernica? Does Rowling's transphobia ruin the magic of Harry Potter?

Rowling is famously transphobic, and the world of Harry Potter both imaginary and real. The world that Nasdijj imagined, perhaps, because he wrote two earlier books, was definitely one that he had deeply familiarized himself with. If you're telling me he's a fake of some sort, I suspect he's a gay man with deep connections to some indigenous people. He has a crazy poetic voice. I was totally transported by his writing. And it's not Western at all, so he mimicked beautifully. And there was a very Jewish/Buddhist koan at the end of every chapter.

Bringing this back to the legacy of Trump this is what Rowling had to say about him winning the election.

I wrote the words below in April, about the UK left, and I'm retweeting them today for the benefit of some of the numbskulls in my mentions.
Women like me, and there are a lot of us, aren't and never have been far-right.
We simply want the left to wake the hell up, because we're watching it do its utmost to alienate people it used to represent.
I'm not saying Trump's win was down to the gender stuff - I'm not an American voter, so can't judge.
In any case, the Labour Party won the last UK election and they've embraced gender identity ideology whole-heartedly (although they won against a Tory government so enfeebled and unpopular it would have been miraculous if they hadn't, and their popularity since gaining office has plummeted.)
What I do know is that millions of women in the UK and across the developed world are extremely angry about men in women's sport, men in women's jails and the erosion of single-sex spaces.
Parents are angry at being demonized because they don't want their troubled kids to undergo irreversible medical treatments of extremely questionable benefit.
People are sick to the back teeth of being bullied and threatened for refusing to embrace an elitist, academia-generated ideology that's having severe real world consequences.
Large swathes of the left continue to be threatening and abusive to anybody who resists their attempts to impose ideological language or bully them out of wrongthink.
Leftist activists jeer and sneer at erstwhile female allies for the crime of believing biological sex is real and matters.
And leftist leaders still appear more interested in sucking up to gender activists than - to take a topical example in the UK - female nurses whose crime is not wanting to undress in front of a fully intact male.
So to those screaming 'transphobe' 'bigot' and 'fascist' at me, you should know two things.

Firstly, I'm completely indifferent to your disapproval, as I'd have thought you'd have realized by now.

Secondly, and far more importantly, the only thing more harmful to your cause than your pseudo-religious belief in gender identities is your astounding, self-righteous arrogance.

And what does they think about the Legacy of Trump?

Speaking of art and the Trump Legacy.

Has anyone read "the remarkable treatise authored by a modern day Anglo-Saxon king" - The Art of The Deal?
I read it years ago....Tony Swartz was Trumps ghostwriter and today says it was the greatest regret of his life.
He and his publisher say Trump contributed nothing of his own writing to the book.

Should we be surprised that Schwartz wants all of the credit?
