Staying on the topic of medical credentials, BC Conservative MLA Jody Toor (Langley-Willowbrook) came under fire during the campaign for falsely presenting herself as a medical doctor despite having no medical license or being registered with the B.C. College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Toor is now the subject of a complaint brought by the Hospital Employees’ Union, which is calling on the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC to launch a formal investigation. According to the Langley Advance Times, Toor’s degrees came from an unaccredited online university based in Hawaii.

One newly-elected BC Conservative candidate who is a doctor, Anna Kindy (North Island), has participated in far-right, convoy-adjacent rallies outside the offices of the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons with a group known for opposing public health measures and promoting far-right conspiracies.

Kindy has been featured as a speaker multiple appearances at an annual conference featuring key individuals and influencers involved in the Freedom Convoy, Maxime Bernier’s PPC and far-right politics in Canada where she extolled the benefits of natural immunity over “leaky” COVID-19 vaccines.

In the upper crust a lie is as good as anything you don't have ... the only way to penetrate this common non-sense is with a good story ... thus the alternate virtue penetrates the dense clouds ... image hammered stories in irony!

Here is the first of a series of posts about the winning Conservatives in BC from the Maple.
Brent Chapman, the new BC Conservative MLA in Surrey South, has been one of the most controversial and extreme candidates to emerge during the recent election campaign.

I heard an interview with John Rustad. The interviewer asked him if he supported Chapman and his views. Rustad sidstepped and avoided answering by saying the electorate had chosen him and he supported the right for citizens to vote their choice.

Another newly elected BC Conservative MLA, Jordan Kealy (Peace River North), has repeatedly posted about chemtrails on his social media accounts. One post from his farm’s Facebook page warned of a supposed “government plan to eat bugs,” “control the weather” and “spray things in the air,” which was accompanied by photos of vapour trails from commercial airplanes.

That's my former riding. I'm really glad I wasn't there during the pandemic. That's one example of some of the nonsense in some corners of the region. The defeated incumbent was a BC Liberal. I had hoped that he and the Peace River South incumbent would be elected because they might be better as independents not having to sing a party line. No independents were elected.

Peace River Region would elect a fence post if it was running for the most conservative party.

Seventh, but not elected, at least yet.
Another BC Conservative candidate of a medical background, Marina Sapozhnikov, finished election night 23 votes behind with one poll left in Juan de Fuca-Malahat to be counted — Sapozhnikov attended a rally organized by the same group, where she compared public health measures to life under communism in the Soviet Union

Ninth
Ditto for new BC Conservative MLA Harman Bhangu (Langley-Abbotsford), who tweeted promoting a widely debunked far-right conspiracy falsely claiming January 6 insurrectionists were actually undercover members of “Antifa.”

“Antifa broke into the Capitol on Jan 6 too,” Bhangu wrote. “If you read the Jan 6 report you would know antifa dressed up as Trump supporters and broke in.”
Bhangu has also made anti-LGBTQ+ statements. In another tweet, Bhangu agreed with a tweet from failed BC Conservative candidate Paul Ratchford criticizing the Vancouver Canucks for wearing Pride-themed practice jerseys because it supposedly endorses “violent antisocial trans extremists.”

The fourth.
One MLA, Tara Armstrong (Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream), claimed a medical doctor who was encouraging the public to get vaccinated was “bought and paid for by big pharma” and a “total fraud.”

The Conservative Candidate in Juan de Fuca- Malagat riding is apparently a physician with similar views.

More than 50% of the population voted for the NDP and Green combined. Yet, we're at risk of getting this Conservative nonsense.

"The NDP received 908,944 votes, or 44.60 per cent of the total, to the Conservative Party’s 887,909 (43.57 per cent). The Green Party received 166,863 votes, for 8.19 per cent."

Less extreme
Another BC Conservative MLA with ties to social conservative groups is Heather Maahs (Chilliwack North). According to The Tyee, Maahs has promoted anti-abortion events and publicly declared herself “pro-life.”

In northern BC, Sheldon Clare (Prince George-North Cariboo), the former President of a right-wing gun lobby group called the National Firearms Association was elected.

Under Clare’s leadership, the NFA was a source of controversy over its response to shootings that killed three RCMP officers in New Brunswick. During the campaign, Clare came under fire by First Nations leaders who described his historical revisionist views on residential schools and attempts to question the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as “outrageous, disgusting and very, very sad.”

And the boss.
Managing a caucus that looks like this will be no easy task, but doubly so for BC Conservative leader John Rustad (Nechako Lakes) who will have little high ground to stand on when it comes to reeling in the zanier elements of his caucus.

During the election campaign, we learned Rustad:

Honestly? I wouldn't even bother to mention someone like that. That's Tuesday on the right wing of any Conservative party. "Pro Life" candidates have been around forever and will be for a long time to come. Look at Leslyn Lewis federally who came close to being leader.

The rest, on the other hand, are very much products of the current political madness that seems to be gripping North America and even parts of Europe and should be kept far, far from power.

The outcome is still showing as too close to call in the media. And the Greens look poised to hold the balance of power even with only two seats. I would suggest BC will be back to the polls long before Rustad and his crazies get much chance to do anything, assuming they even win. A slim minority like that for either party just isn't going to last long.

Then the opinion floated around NB that an election was too close to call ... vote with some conscience people ... recall there are those out there that have none and with vote for anarchy ... simply put that's chaos ... when the racketeers take over ...

Yet ... maybe they already have ... Niche suggest that ... politicians would say that's diabolical! Loos Ipherous ...

They are still counting mail in ballots and absentee ballots in BC. They are recounting in close ridings. The riding where I vote only had a 23 vote difference between the NDP and Cons, with NDP ahead. Now the NDP has a lead of more than 100. It's good because the Con candidate recently said that Indigenous people were historically savages. As you can imagine that has gotten a response from all sides. Rustad, the Con leader said it was unacceptable. That's it. He's a weak leader who doesn't take action on his candidates who have crazy views.

Apparently a close riding in Surrey may flip from Con to NDP. If that happens the NDP will be able to form a majority government.

If you add the NDP and Greens popular votes more people voted for them than for the Cons. That's reassuring.

I do hope though that this lights a fire under Eby's butt. Clearly a lot of people aren't happy with his leadership.

NS election has been called. After Houston had made a bill to set a fixed election date in July.
He has been throwing money around lately thinking that increases his chances. I am not sure about that.
Conservative governments were always good with throwing money at things increasing the provincial dept.
Healthcare really hasn’t improved significantly. We got a Covid bonus and a stay-on bonus - but the working conditions have not improved. To deal with the lack of staff in LTC, they just announced to pay the tuition for LPNs that sign up to work two years after graduation in nursing homes. That, at least, goes into the right direction- but it is too little too late.

91.5% of the vote to keep our amazing Alberta Premiere. Congratulations, Premiere Danielle Smith.
