We've had some doozies even not counting the occasional tornadoes we get. That derecho that went across Ontario in 2022 wrought some havoc around here.
That may have been what we experienced that day. It was either in the early 2000's on one of our first trips back to Ontario, or the late 90's before we went west. If I had to be specific, I would say early 2000's
Those are the plough winds or I've also heard them called straight-line winds - very intense, very focused. We do get a lot of those in Alberta - that's what took the stage down at Big Valley Jamboree a few years back and destroyed the barns at the Millarville Racetrack by Calgary
I don't think that was what we experienced. I do believe we experienced something like that when we were in GP or FSJ. From what I remember, the winds in that storm were swirling somehow, not happening in a straight line.
Either way, it was destructive
