I'm sorry, BA, we're talking on two different levels here. Michael Dowd, and others, are projecting The End Of The World As We Know It, by 2040 or so, his range is 2030-2050.
I don't think that anything than anyone could consider "better" is in the cards. However, I'm not sure how much I want to share my view with my 33 year old daughter.

If things continue as they are, that time frame is possible...but...if changes are made, it could be pushed back and there is always a chance that changes can be made.

There is a ballad about the title: Don't Tell Me How The Story Ends! It says a lot within its surface about the autonomous human mind set to get ahead of itself and never learn of consequences ... consequences are only for losers and asses according to those in the rush ...
I hear that few folk believe in such a thing as the mind, or even an autonomous mind ... so when the heart stops there remains not a clue. Imagine the connections one can make in anon dissociated set-up! It s said the common people are so cloistered in god stuff that they wouldn't get that far when falling ... for a process of coinciding Misogyny and its counter forse ... perhaps!
It is said in Roman tradition their god screwed everyone to get wealth ... it is a tradition today that supports thoughtlessness and only the autonomous goes on in darkness ... the remnant tends to learn about rights as something requiring appreciation ... as sort of mental response impossible if you didn't believe in such an abstract, imaginary, complex numbers that are similar to the square root of the negative one that has been shoved out of sight by alien processes beyond us ... the intellectual wasteland? There a sum zero or empty psyche might be driven to thinking about where we're at and what are we up to sharing? In the eternal sense of autonomous ... would that stretch the time condition a bit allowing us to look back for a flash before we fall out of the system? That's the fallacy of learning in a physical realm of wealth ... too distracting, unless one can drift off from time to time ... mental trans fixation? This is beyond the masses ...
It may be a fey, flighty, sort of take off from reality ... some refuse to return ... these are the dead short days ago ... they lived, etc. And there they are transfixed in that peculiar domain disbelieved by many that decided to preserve and keep it jarred, cloistered! Imagine a beauty (booty) in a tower ... weaving a chord ... a connection to the beyond as myth ... some don't get out much generating the concept of NARC and narcist ... along with nihilism and being flushed out because of aversion to processing intelligence ... a spin off called avarice? Attempting to control something you have no knowledge of ... administrative night mares and other dark horses! Thus castings ... a great Dr. Hama!

Psychology is a vast study ... given the extent to which it has been rejected, eliminated and denied by authoritarian powers except for perhaps a mire 1% ... something to filter out and process ... some prospects Pan out ... many don't ... yet one shouldn't lose perspective of the abstract ... we could learn something out there ... Yeah, I'd like to see this in R&F on its own rather than buried in here. More likely to catch eyeballs from passersby and provoke discussion more generally. I am far more optimistic on this front, even given current reality.
