If that’s the case I don’t think it’s a good idea.

But if it is the case that we have passed the point of no return, which appears to be a consensus of sorts, then it behooves us to make the best we can of what we've got. According to the data provided by Dr Michael Dowd yesterday, even if every person and institution made a 180 degree turn today, we are not going to avoid the end of Western civilization and cataclysmic climate change. Sea levels will rise by an average of 50 linear feet by the end of this century. I hope my children do not have children.

Man I'm glad I'm nowhere near anything to do with BC Ferries today. What a gong show that must be. We'll be heading back onto the island on August 16. I worry about the number of sailing cancellations lately. We'll have to bear that in mind when we want to head back. We prefer to sail to Nanaimo. We can sail to Swartz Bay if necessary.

It's not getting better. When the pandemic started I thought it might mean changes to improve the system. I thought it could improve the health system and long term care. Imagine being so naive at this age.

I had also thought that restaurants might improve wages/benefits to attract staff. Today I heard of some very cheap option that is being used. I didn't catch the beginning of the piece. I think it was some kind of robot. Greed rules again. :(
I have a friend who had to take stress leave for a couple of months from BC Ferries. Ironically the more short staffed they are, the more stressful the job is. They can’t hire interim workers easily because all the staff have to be marine safety certified - as they should be.

That sounds like a defeatist proposition coming from high up - so that the rich and powerful will inherit the Earth. A spin. Because while some might make the best of it, it will devolve into mayhem for everybody who doesn’t live in both figurative and literal protective bubbles. And that will be most people. Unless people give up much of their comforts and expectations and help tough it out into something better.

If the economic system totally collapses, there will be no rich, and ergo, no powerful, really.

And I think that mayhem is exactly what we'll see. I just sorta hope it holds off until I'm gone, but that's a selfish wish.

Oh there will be. That’s their plan. Rich white people will inherit a corporately enhanced socioeconomic and environmental system for themselves to thrive in. Everybody else be damned. The rich white supremacist fundamentalists are steering it that way, with the help of maniacal politicians and lobbiests - to their own benefit - to usher in the salvation of themselves. Unless we get it together and change that.

Have you seen this:

Uh, I don't think so, personally, Kimmio. I suspect that some of the human population will survive, but I think it will be either random, or it will be people with specific survival skills - like providing heat, growing food, etc.

Once money has no value, being rich is meaningless. And if one buys one's power with money, which is the usual route, then without money, power is gone as well.

Maybe - or it’ll be like a Brave New World. Or the less metaphorical take on one of those Zombie shows. Where survivalists are outrunning the zombies. I imagine they’ll make rules for those who survive, charge money for water and oxygen so those without means are screwed and can’t outrun them.

Or, we could all, humanity, get our s**t together, priorities straight, spend what we have of our natural lives fighting to turn thing around instead of enjoying the last bit of time to consume as granted by our overlords, and not give up on next generations or the planet! It requires radical modifications of what it means to be happy - and giving up on capitalist values we’re accustomed to.

Anyway, my phone is still not working for calls and texts (I’m accessing wifi through another provider)…are the ‘bones’ still there to get analogue phones going again? Like, how long would it take to build back 1970s communications infrastructure? Could it be done if needed. Who has the blueprints for that?

If the entertainment industry (combined with religion and all the power brokers) has been writing the script for us, as to what will become of us - what if we imagined a new script?

What if we could rebuilt society back to what it looked like a few decades ago (if we can construct radically new tech in a short time it must also be possible to take it back a few notches. Doesn’t seem likely right now but it is possible) - so we’re less dependent on the internet - so we have analogue communications systems as back up - then implement the best most equitable human rights into that?

Maybe we don’t have to start over from the Stone Age. We can pick a point in time and build back to that - but more equitable for all than previous times. Maybe we can deconstruct the constructed systems and build them into the best of the past as well as best we need to do for the future.

I wouldn’t mind starting again from the 70s, but on a different metaversal timeline.

Imagine there are folks that say there is no irony in this lesson to learn from! Then the trap door opens ...

Of course the power of denial can kick in and just say ... " it isn't so" thus the word incarnate was bourn ... look up the many understanding of this word about how things appear in the abstract!

The great hope is there are port holes in time ... portals? Mindless spots? OMG ode ...

Why is it when we age we begin to gat a vision of the innocents we once were ... is that not immensely odd, and yet we believe we are normal when normal is just another unknown given the alternations.

Nanaimo remind me to look for a bar where I can drink to myself ... something that Socrates said we should know ... it kilt him! May have been the vegetable in it ... the greens are coming to take us away ... that could be a meadow or other baffling device like rich politicians ... ley us reread ourselves ... while in the portal! Transmutation a quiet crossing ...

Can you imagine the people that don't respect the vision that we've past the point or extension of groundwork to make a turn around?

The vision of that over there is immense ... thus the races at Cowes ... just for the rich who don't know they will be left standing in crap ... all that flows from euro monarchies --- right from the bilious tory! (that's wilful)

It is said we were forewarned about powerful leadership and we ignored it because no one wished to share in the work ... thus knowledge departs like psyche ... perhaps a immortal essence ... an ancient concept?

No one floating would believe there is depth to the dark pools ... consider the residents of Blackpool St. There a court within itself ...

One of my parents used to often say “Don’t let the b*stards bring you down.” But then, there’s rich irony in that source.

In the grind did a gems tone appear? May explain some hard Hebrew lines/lions to learn about as being whipped by a jawbone ... OMA God mythology is the mos' wonderful place to hide the forbidden ... so there it slips, slides and goes all over ... like Isis ...

If Isis will have yah ... imagine the consequences of those that dare not look there ... if one prods in mysterious places of the dead ... will something come of it ... like Lazarus? There has to be an allegory or anachronism there ... if only for cover ...

Is that dead to thought or dead to mined and thus the digging can go on for a very long time ... as the bottom line went down a vast dark hole thingy ... there are metaphors for that as well ... depth wisdom? Oh! we couldn't have that ... imagine the strain on the uppers ...
