See, I have some very good ideas of what Godde wants; what the kin-dom of Godde looks like.

They're just very different than yours and that doesn't make you right.

As long as you keep in mind Bette that your different ideas might not be "right" either.
Who can know?
As much as I give my loyalty to the (liberal) Christian faith tradition, I don't think there is much we can claim to "know" with any certainty.

Perhaps I am entering another agnostic phase. I have been here a few times before but not quite the same as now

Absolutely agreed. I am agnostic with the occasional a-ha moment.

I don't even have a problem with certainty, unless it's a certainty that condemns most of the world.

I say ----No your ideas are different from God's not mine ------and what makes you think that your way of thinking is Right -----I am still waiting for you to prove the Scriptures aren't God inspired -----haven't seen that yet ----LOL

As I said before, it is not up to ANYONE to prove what is NOT. It is up to YOU to prove what YOU assert IS. In all the years of WC and WC2 you have utterly FAILED to prove this point even ONCE.

And knock it off with the LOL It is disrespectful, and discourteous, in contradistinction to the very first rule of the Code of Conduct. You are not laughing at ideas or opinions, you are laughing at posters. Kindly desist from this behaviour. Thank you.

Personally I think turning the word Kingdom into "kin-dom" is a bit of a stretch.

Also agrees with older Jewish thought. It appears that Godde's original thought was more pro a "rule by judges" than a "rule by kings", thus making kin-dom quite appropriate.

Since this thread was about beliefs or attitudes or points of view regarding other religions, I see them as providing insights to consider regarding God or gods or faith or right living.

It seems unsafe sees no good in other religions, that her understandings about Christianity provide all she wants in terms of faith or right living. I have the impression Mystic has a similar view.

Bette seems to appreciate learning what other religions have to offer.

I should add that i also get inspiration from many other sources. Some of the most unusual include Urantia, Conversations with God, American Gods, Stranger in a Strange Land, and many others.

Well sure. But do you think the Kingdom of God and the kin-dom of "all our relations" are identical concepts?
So why are we stuck with kingdom when empire is closer to what might have been intended by Jesus when he named it? The United Church replaced Christ the King Sunday with Reign of Christ Sunday. A society in which the greatest serves everyone and love for one another is the way of life would be a kindom of God and the society pointed to by Jesus.

Well sure. But do you think the Kingdom of God and the kin-dom of "all our relations" are identical concepts?

Well, yes and no.

King implies a hierarchical structure around our life here. Kin implies a more egalitarian, circle of life, concept.

King and kin might represent the difference between how society would like us to behave, and how the real physical world behaves.

I have the impression that much of the enthusiasm for this new word "kin-dom" is a reaction to "King" as a patriarchal term.

If we believe in God who has created and is creating, does this not imply some sort of authority or power? Even if the power is persuasive rather than absolute?

Can't say I have any quarrel with the concept of Jesus as a moral authority either. But as a wisdom teacher not a dictator.
