Heat Wave: Anyone else getting this?

Also, older people tolerate heat more poorly. This link says don’t rely on a fan as your only cooling source. But that’s all I’ve got. No doubt fans are sold out everywhere, in case I wanted another. My condo is not suitable for a window a/c unit. Like, you won’t need that in Victoria, thought the builders and everyone else.

I have found the heat so bad here. I hope we don’t get a recurrence.

Good article, all good suggestions....sometimes I will put a wet small towel in the freezer for about 5 min and wrap it in another lighter towel, then wrap it around my neck to cool down too.
 
5:00 here, 35.1C in the shade on our deck (31.5 on the thermostat inside)
 
I had an elderly godmother who was sensitive to heat, and her go-to trick was to put a damp cold facecloth around her neck. Another trick a customer shared was to make a block of ice in your freezer (using an ice cream container or something similar), then place the block on a container, for the melting, in front of your room fan.

Hey, at least you're able to dig it. I'm still waiting for the guy to grind the stump of the old tree. Need to have services marked first and they are backlogged here.

Waterfall, I took a thick hand towel, got it soaking wet then wrung it out. I’m sitting in front of my fan, moving towel around a bit. It’s great! The water has not all evaporated yet, and I’ve been using it for more than an hour. Thanks for the tip.

Recall denial is an incredible power and thus we go round and round, with few understanding ... vert Egos? Mary goes round ... just to confuse those believing they are enlightened in the dark situation facing reality ... could be the mother tongue!

Will virtue finally get to us? Through vast numinous fogs ...
 
The Labrador current tends to protect us from too much heat.

We did get up above 30C last week which was uncomfortable.

Our long-range forecast for the coming week shows typically seasonal temps in the mid to high teens.

We head out to St. Anthony soon so we'll be dealing with temps in the teens for the most part with rare forays into the 20's and as many days in fog and single digits.
