This conversation seems to have evolved to diabetes. I only brought up insulin as an example if a medication that has saved countless lives

While it is true that patients with Type 2 Diabetes are more likely to know of a relative with diabetes than patients with Type 1 and, therefore conclude that Type 2 Diabetes may be genetic, there are several other things to consider here.

#1: To some extent the appearance of “clustering” of Type 2 Diabetes in families may simply just be a consequence of the fact that type 2 is so much more common than type 1 diabetes in the general population.

#2: The occurrence of multiple cases in a family may also reflect that they have shared “environmental risk factors,” such as obesity and sedentary lifestyle, and does not imply necessarily the sharing of a diabetes gene.

In general, the risk of diabetes does increase if it runs in your family. For example, your risk to developing Type 2 Diabetes increases twice as much if you have a sibling with diabetes, and it increases thrice as much if you have a parent who has diabetes. However, this increased risk does not necessarily mean you will develop diabetes Type 2; it only means that you are susceptible to it, but can beat it by reducing lifestyle and environmental risk factors.

In fact, a study done on twins in Denmark to understand the link between genetics and Diabetes Type 2 found that genetic predisposition is important for the development of abnormal glucose tolerance. Non-genetic factors, however, might play a predominant role in controlling whether a genetically predisposed individual progresses to overt Type 2 Diabetes.

Lifestyle and Environmental Risk Factors Cannot Be Negated ... no matter how hard you try.

Yes and there is big money in The Diabetes Industry ... so natural remedy is discouraged
Which brings us back to big money in the Vaccine Industry ... so natural immunity is discouraged by the Churches and States that are so aligned.
When the Church is not aligned with the State on promoting vaccination over healthy lifestyle ... someone has to go to Jail.

(That’s Jesus, by the way, not Joe or Justin)

Well, according to Billy Graham’s son, Franklin Graham insists that we should take the COVID vaccine because Jesus would have done it too.

"Anytime there was a vaccine or something that could help protect you, he was an advocate for, he took it," and "I think if there were vaccines available in the time of Christ, Jesus would have made reference to them and used them."

Wonder what the fact checkers will make of that?

Or worse, high fructose corn syrup (though that now seems to be on the way out after controversy over its use).
Switching to corn-based sweeteners is a case of jumping from the funnel cake grease into the fire!

Corn syrup became the go-to sweetening agent for processed foods due to its low cost and high concentration (at least 1.5 times that of cane sugar).

Thanks to State subsidies, corn is alluringly cheap for food and beverage companies that need a steady supply of sweetness.

Corn is also a top GMO crop with at least 92% of the corn supply being genetically modified to withstand large doses of herbicides

Aspartame, Equal, sucralose, Splenda, saccharin: 100 scientific abstracts on the perils of artificial sweeteners.

Chemical fascimiles of sugar, these unnatural compounds can be far worse than the real thing.

Linked to increased risks of kidney disease, metabolic dysfunction, diabetes, and obesity, these calorie-free sugar substitutes trick consumers into thinking that previously unhealthy foods can get "a sugar-free pass."

Why are all the Public Health Experts not shouting warnings from the roof top about all of that !

How about promoting healthful alternatives to sugar which prove that craving a taste of sweetness doesn't have to cause cavities, promote weight gain, or lead to blood sugar imbalances ... natural foods which actually sweeten our health, as well as our palates.

Good Old Black Strap Molasses was one of my childhood favorites.

My laugh for the day!

Public health is shouting the warning about sweeteners. Sugar. Fructose and all the derivatives. Sadly. People are addicted to it

But you know what? You don't need the State, or the Church, to tell you what sort of diet is healthy. You need to be properly educated in healthy food and healthy food preparation, preferably by your family.

My mother was a terrible cook, a worse teacher, but she made killer pastry. My auntie was a veggie-leaning foodie who shared her love of ingredients and cooking and cookbooks with me.

My kids don't eat a lot of junk, both avoid soda, because that wasn't in their diet. We ate a lot of soups and stews and casseroles, heavy on the veg, bread was usually whole-wheat, dessert was usually fruit, with homemade oatmeal cookies occasionally, and pie sometimes for Sunday dinner or holidays.

My single diet is much worse, because it's very hard to cook and eat healthy meals for one, in my experience. I can't seem to adjust.

And on this note from our dear @Redbaron
"If you don't like the moderation, you know where the exit is."
" Don't let the door slap you on your way out."
" Or, if you prefer, Council can assist you in finding your way out."

It is probably best that I take my leave of this Wonder Cafe State of Affairs to tend more responsibly to 'cleaning up my own room'.

And it's a good example to make a few different points. that's why I was running with that.

Yep, he is straight forward with those visuals, our Redbaron. You were playing the “ oppressed minority card” for something that was plainly offensive behaviour. Doesn’t fly here. We are generally appreciative of our council.
Sometimes it’s beneficial to take a break.

So I will go to the leaders and speak to them; surely they know the way of the LORD, the requirements of their God."

With one accord they too had broken off the yoke and torn off the bonds. Jeremiah 5:5

By the way, remember Pastor Coates? The guy you mentioned in the OP? He's out of jail now, having been assessed a 1500 dollar fine. Seems the church didn't get off scot free for flouting the rules.

I wonder if he or the congregation will pay the fine? I'm guessing the latter; 'tis always the way.

is it a terrorist attack or a stampede of horses running out of burning barn once the door is opened.
Neither.

NL has done very well compared to other jurisdictions in containing and quelling the transmission of Covid-19.

Most of our new cases are travel related and most have been rotational workers who contracted Covid-19 elsewhere.

Provincially we have enacted travel bans. No visitors. And residents returning to the Province have a 14 day isolation period which is monitored by random calls daily to check in.

Somebody brought home a Variant. It was transmitted to at least one youth and from there it shot through a local high-school and into several homes.

Two deaths as a result of this outbreak.

People were clearly lax about their health protocols and that slip contributed to the deaths of two members of the community.

So back to a tighter regimen.

And for the most part the Province has complied. We went back to Alert Level 2 midnight Saturday, March 27, 2021.

Public Health has reduced our maximum gathering limits based on the Variant transmissibility.

Horses stay in a burning barn and others are smart enough to get out

Nothing really burning. I'm sure the families of the two that died have a different perspective.

And possibly the family that the outbreak originated with. Their names will not be released to the public.

We are back to fewer than 1 new case per day on our rolling seven day average. Disagree with our position as you like.

Fewer deaths and cases works for us.

Funny how all jurisdictions are doing well and yet we slide down the curve ... Kubler Ross Depression?

It is the pith ... resembling seeds as Cider ... fermentations?
