One thing I saw tweeted shortly after the attempted coup was someone refuting the idea that it was so-called "white trash" who were responsible. While anyone doing that might be seen as "trash", the point was that it wasn't your stereotypical poor trailer dwellers. So far we've seen at least one state politician resign after being charged and now we learn that a CEO faces charges and has been placed on leave by his board. This was, like many coups and revolutions, not about poverty or even economics but power and influence.

That instability is reaching precarious proportions. It will not take much to tip the balance. Sad to say, the majority prefer to not see things as they are. Those who do see, and say what they see, are not often welcomed or supported. Socrates and Jesus make this clear.

Yesterday, Cbc was reporting that police officers off duty were using their badges to get the crowd though barriers . Haven’t heard this again , though.

I know a cop from Seattle has been charged but I doubt a Seattle badge carries much weight in DC.

The Washington Post claimed “seditious Republicans must be held accountable”.

The anti-social media campaign has begun again in earnest.

As Twitter and Facebook limit discussion, alternative platforms will be shutdown.

Enforcing a corporate monopoly that cooperates with the state…the very definition of fascism.

In the name of “preventing a coup”, they are carrying one out in front of our eyes.

It puts in mind Huey Long’s famous quote when asked if fascism would ever come to America:

This is very interesting. Less, for the criticism of censorship and more the question of: is this an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" political move? There's been an increase in favourability in Western countries, esp. the US, toward Putin in recent years - because he's looked up to by white nationalists, and because of Trump. If Navany sticks up for Trump but still defies Putin - what's behind that? I'm not sure it's only about his opinion on censorship.

(Though, to be honest, I'd like the option to be able to read what Trump is thought-tweeting until the 21st.)

Trump is a symptom of the rot, not the cause of the rot. While I believe Biden is an improvement, I don't believe he will be the "cure".

'It was rigged. They're trying to steal the election that I won bigly. Pennsylvania counted wrong. So did Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia (3 times THEY counted wrong!) Fake news. The media has treated me very badly. I didn't concede. I'm not going to that thing on the 20th. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.'

I had the "Ride Like the Wind" song by Christopher Cross here. Trump running to the border on the day before he's likely to be impeached...is kind of a funny thought. Kind of. In a Trump reality TV kind of way. The mind wandered onto wild west bandits, and Vietnam draft dodger movies. On a related (musical) note, there are probably some people who wouldn't mind if he went down to Mexico and wasted away in Margaritaville, looking for his lost shaker of salt.

Trumpistas claim that there's a woman/ man/ person/ camera/ tv to blame - but the rest know it's his own damn fault.
