TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Frankly, Yo-Sem-Might Sam seems at times more Presidential than the current buffoon-in-chief.

It occurred to me, just this minute, that this means that Donald Trump has never watched "Bugs Bunny and the Roadrunner", and that is almost sad...but also, almost chillingly wyrd.

I'm still angry they let him near the elections there, the first time, and that there isn't a more rigorous process for who is allowed to run and how they get vetted.

Both the US and the Canada rely on the parties to choose their candidates wisely. If they don't, then the onus is on the voters to do the screening.

In fact, in Canada, where we do not separate the executive and legislative branches, we are arguably even more beholden to the parties making good choices because they choose the prime minister, not the voters. We elect the party, the party elects a leader who becomes PM.

One of my friends said people should stop making jokes about him, he is a sick man. Don’t joke about the sick.

Honestly? If he is that sick, he shouldn't be POTUS. As long as he insists he is well enough to be in the White House, he is fair game IMHO.

In general, I would agree. And I'm particularly sensitive to jokes about mental illness. OTOH, if there's a single mental illness that might actual benefit from some very direct mocking, I'd have to think it would be narcissistic personality disorder.

I like All the articles today about the tax filings published by NYtimes. Either he lies to the people and the IRS or he is a terrible businessman and has lied to the American people

i get that real estate is often used as a write off because of losses. Depreciation if buildings and assets........ but some years he values things high, other years low. He donate land to NY state after he couldn’t build a golf course. Bought it for $3 million. Valued it at $100 million for the donation, then later decided it was $26 million

as one prosecutor was quoted. Even a minimally adept prosecutor could find evidence of fraud in both he and Ivanka

How on earth does a President who owes MILLIONS, be allowed to continue to be president? Doesnt that make him vulnerable to blackmail from those who have loaned him money and put Americans at risk for any bad decisions he may make because of it?
Some loan sharks may think getting favours from the president outweighs being paid back on time.

I'm angry that the public let him get there. And the media.

The public, really, is lousy at hiring, truth be told. Too easily swayed by emotional appears or self-interest. Even based on some of our elections, I can say that. If you want democracy, that's something you have to deal with. It's certainly what soured Socrates and Plato on the Athenian system.

In large part, I think, democracy works best with a reasonably well-educated electorate. When youhave a substantial number of people wondering why Obama didn't stop 9-11, or had a better response to Hurricane Katrina (both of which happened years before Obama was in office) your nation is headed for trouble.

There were efforts to dumb down the public for years by the Republican Party and Fox, most particularly. And by Trump, who knows how to manipulate media. That's how he's wiggled out of trouble for so long. He was one of the main propagaters of the Birther conspiracy.

And Russia - they helped with spreading misleading fake news, fake groups, etc. General disinformation floods for people - increasing numbers of people with decreasing attention spans.

Trump says he loves his low education voters. Of course he does.

If you have a more equal society - less economic disparity and class differences - you're going to have a better educated public. Capitalism run amok has created a danger to democracy in itself - with the monied interests really running things. And because of that, there's a dumbed down electorate.

Right, exactly what Plato said. The problems of democracy actually predate modern capitalism. Pretty much every attempt at democracy has run into them. It's whatever the power elite happens to be in the society in question that keeps the plebs dumb. Capitalists are just the modern version.

Even more than capitalism, I'm going to argue that the breakdown in U.S. education has not happened here, but may be on its way. Standardized testing, especially that outsourced from the education system, is a very evil thing.

Four years of the Trump administration has shown that – while he may occasionally play the role of the wild card ...

Donald Trump is most certainly playing a role in the Establishment’s plan.

What is that plan?

To divide the people so they may conquer the people?

Keep the domestic front as divided as possible while selling the propagandized masses into an engineered civil war?

The corporate media has been floating the idea of a civil war since the beginning of the Trump administration.

Now Americans are literally killing each other in the streets over political debates.

Trump is doing a grand job of playing the role of The Great Divider.

Trump acts like a buffoon and says outrageous things you would expect to hear from a former WWE wrestler.

The media reacts to Trumps increasingly authoritarian measures and makes sure their bias is as obvious as possible.

Trump supporters respond to the bias assuming the media’s hatred for Trump must be an indication he is on “our side.”

The more ridiculous Trump acts, the more vile the media, and the more divided the streets become.

Trump is not an exception to the presidency.

He is simply the ugly, cold hard truth finally revealed for the masses to see.

Unless you are a blind Trump worshiping cult member who is unwilling to admit his flaws.

It is clear to see Trump follows trends advanced by previous Presidents Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, etc.

Donald Trump has ripped the false air of legitimacy and the pretense of civility from the American presidency.

Throughout the last four years, Donald Trump has consistently played the role of the divider.

Trump cannot be blamed solely for the growing movement against police violence and subsequent protests and riots.

He is simply playing his role, as corporate media directs people who are beginning to question state violence.

Converging forces – with Donald Trump stoking the flames of division at every turn.

Setting the stage for a mass conflict centered around the U.S presidential election on November 3rd, 2020.

A number of recent simulations of the 2020 U.S. election have resulted in chaos and potential civil war.

It would be easy to dismiss these exercises as politically driven fantasy ...

Media reports indicated the Transition Integrity Project (TIP) held a number of exercises simulating what might happen in the event Donald Trump loses the 2020 election, but refuses to leave office.

The TIP itself is a group made up of “Never Trump” neocons (Republicans and Democrats).

The Boston Globe reported that the TIP met in June to simulate the 11-week period between Election Day on November 3rd and Inauguration Day on January 20, 2021. The exercises state that “Trump and his Republican allies used every apparatus of government — the Postal Service, state lawmakers, the Justice Department, federal agents, and the military — to hold onto power, and Democrats took to the courts and the streets to try to stop it.”

The TIP envisioned one scenario where Trump wins and Biden refuses to concede and instead asks for a recount and makes several demands, including to give statehood to Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, and divide California into 5 states.

In the exercises Joe Biden is played by John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign manager and chief of staff to former President Bill Clinton.

The simulations essentially end in a constitutional crisis where there is no clear President and the Supreme Court or possibly the military play a deciding role.

If you think protests and fights between extreme leftists and extreme right wingers are contentious, just wait until they both feel shafted during the presidential election.

Those opposed to Trump will claim Biden won and Trump is attempting to steal the election and create a fascist dictatorship.

The Trump supporters will say Democrats are attempting a coup to establish a Communist Police State.

The result will be neighbor turning against neighbor, family members disowning one another, and some political activists may escalate their tactics from protests to violence.
