You see the "truth" is often represented by scientific opinion. Science is the coolest thing, where you get to adjust your opinion, as you gather facts. So, generally, if 95% of a group of scientists, like the IPCC, believes that their current hypotheses around the effects of climate change are correct, but are continually "fact-checking" against this hypothesis, I'd be inclined to trust their decisions, KNOWING THAT THEY WOULD CHANGE THEM WITH NEW INFORMATION.

What is truth?
Truth is an egg in a pan on a stove in a warm home that has been acquired by the most efficient means possible. When you do things efficiently, you preserve resources. The fake green resources are not efficient.

if you had to rely on green energy to get you a banana, it would be rotten if it ever arrived.

Which means its finally ripe.

The fake green resources are not efficient.

Doesn't matter how efficient they are. Matters that they are supplemental. If your egg is cooked 1/2 by fossil fuels, and you let it finish cooking passively (by covering the hot pan with a lid), it still uses 1/2 the fossil fuel as the guy who cooked it hard with fossil fuels and then put it on his plate.

The guy who uses fossil fuels to cook his egg, gets back to work 15 minutes earlier, because he didn’t waste a bunch of btus heating a lot of water needlessly. Now he has enough money to buy three dozen more eggs.

I am not really enthusiastic about the name, but, since we only have 11 years left to turn things around, they have a point. Here is a group in our local town Wolfville Extinction Rebellion demonstrators call on banks to divest from fossil fuels | The Hants Journal
and if you look at the numbers- yes, there is power in where you put your money. I have been tired of RBC for a while and just didn’t want to do the work of switching, but it is time now. Looking into the local credit union.
Halloo past Mrs.Anteater. How time flies!!! We are still alive AWESOME!!! Take that, Milky Way Plague!!!

Anyway, the 11 year figure wasnt "we will all DIEEEEE!!!" but rather the point when it will become REALLY COSTLY and HARD to mitigate CCC.

(We wont reach the Paris Accord 1.5 goal bc it was based on faulty data...the amount of CO2 they used 2 figure it out was off by 50%...ick...but we will solve this issue...I hear the Dems have finally actually included nuclear in their plan...)

And GT rise to fame just goes to show: if she can do it (even show up to the Elite Deep State lol Davos) there is hope for all of us!!! W00t.

Also the creators of ER, Gail Bradbrook and Clare Farrell are a H00T. They are filled with hilaritas.

There are folks against nuclear thoughts ... given they don't understand what powers Steela's spark out there ...

Is it possible to spark cautiously? Avoid the blackdamp ... a kohl minor's plague ... the Ka Boom?

Oh dont i know it
Way too many environmentalist types against odd things that would make for a more sustainable earth
One of the reasons why nuclear is so difficult to build in US; they changed the laws so it is waaay too expensive etc to build 'em.

Aand did u hear that France *stands up for anthem* is building a FUSION REACTOR? Ill believe it when it goes online...

Fusion is the way to go. Fission reactors, unfortunately, even the best, produce radioactive waste, in too much of a volume, to safely store, especially with huge problems due to rising water levels.

Fusion reactor? Are you serious? I thought that one was tens of decades away.

In the seventies they started to build some version of them. I remember one was called Shiva.
A reminder that this technology isn't benign.

We know that fission reactors work
We dont know yet if we can get a fusion reactor to work beyond the "oh look a few seconds and it took more input energy than output"

We have "safe" nuclear reactors. Sodium salt reactors

We also have but not everywhere Gen 4 reactors.. Some models can use NUCLEAR WASTE AS FUEL :3

The big reason why US doesnt have this is again because of the laws due to anxiety that bled over into the society. It is going 2 b more difficult 2 change these laws, esp as there r still peeps that will go "oh look they are gutting our agencies that protect us".

Nuclear will provide us with the type of energy that we need that we get from fossil fuels* right now and added to other forms we'll b good.

Fusion reactors also have the untested problem of interaction with the sun. I wouldnt want to be anywhere in France when they build that Fusion reactor when our sun gets particularly active...

Also I do hope we can find a way to keep feeding our billions without needing to rely on that process where we are essentially eating fossil fuels

I am optimistic

They started building it in 2013 BP

Indeed. Nothing is benign? Everything has effects and costs. We just have to figure out if the costs are worth it.

Thatz a failing of sombunall fundies or environmentalists or Wokists or vegans or free market worshippers; they seem 2 think there is a costless and riskless way to exist.

Like take a look at cold fusion. If it were true that would mean that ALMOST ANYONE (ahem. Mic check? Mic check?) can then have cheap energy...which includes those who would want to do harm like a bomb?

Or 3d printing. When it becomes good enough..."I want a klingon bathlith" or "i want plutonium!"

Everyone can have their own bomb maker thingy? Neighbourhood coop for plasma weapons?
Word.
