No freezing happening here this Canada Day, though. Sunny, 30, and a bit humid. Perfect for massive outdoor gatherings at fireworks shows. Except, you know, COVID.

Pouring rain here so no outdoor events - even if we could have them.
 
Okay, this is officially a weird Canada Day...most businesses are open - even the library is now - and when I was wishing folks "Happy Canada Day" I got a lot of blank looks or comments like "oh, is it?"
 
It finally stopped raining here and the organisers said the kids events are a go. Fireworks later - maybe - if it doesn't rain again.

Not raining here - at the moment I type this - but any afternoon/evening activities that had been planned are still cancelled
 
OMG...I was lucky - just startled a very cute and adorable little skunk that I think was eating my strawberries

thankfully it moved away and didn't spray - and I hit the fence - but then I couldn't get into the house because it walked back and forth along the strawberries/tomatoes and the flowerbed and under the deck - by that point I was practically plastered against the truck trying to figure out where it was going...lost sight of it as it walked under the grape and headed to the garden

My little black and white buddy hasn't been around recently. Or maybe they're coming at night when I don't see them. I kind of miss them but, yeah, I was glad they never came around when I was out there.

I wish I was able to get a picture as it was soooooo adorable, but I don't want to see it again just to get a picture...I rarely actually see skunks in yard - prior to today was only once when I left the house around 7 pm fall of 2012, one night when I had all the skunk troubles in 2018, and when I saw the eyes in the compost (2017 or 2018)...I was at a Guide camp once and a skunk escorted us to the outhouse and back to the tent every night and never bothered us as long as we stayed on the path...now to figure out how to get it away from the strawberries?!?
 
The linden trees are in bloom. I love linden flower, because it's so subtle. It's there, then it's not, only lasts a few days. A breeze just wafted a hint of scent from the tree across the street. I bought some Linden flower soap in Quebec City a few years ago, and have yet to use it, because then it will be gone, like the yearly couple of days of linden scent in the air.
 
Last as I work in my air conditioned house. Had to hold the door while Mrs. M brought groceries in and that was enough of the heat for me.
 
LAST after an interesting morning...drove the truck yesterday with no trouble...drove it downtown this morning to take items to sis and discovered one tire was missing some tread - not sure when or how it went missing...limped the truck 6 blocks to the local garage and they had trouble ordering new tires as it seems to be an oddball size...walked home - which would not have been an issue but the only footwear I have now (besides winter boots) is a pair of flip-flops I only wore in the solarium in the winter as my sandals that died LAST year (and I was too sick to replace) REALLY fell apart the other day so they're gone...now the inside of my toes are completely raw and sore :(
